Heya Guys,

Its nice to be here among you caddy fans. I have a question. I am building up a motor got my 97 Trans Am. My Previous car was a 1994 Eagle Talon TSi with a 16 Valve DOHC engine. I lost my car due to a wreck and I cannot get another one. Nothing will replace her. Anyhow, Heres the bottom line. Should I go and build up an LS1 or should I build up a 32 valve DOHC Northstar? I want torque, RPMs and good gas milage. I have never driven a caddy before that had the northstar engine in it so I dont know how it performs. But neither have I driven a car that had the LS1 engine in it. The closest I have come is the newer LT1s. The only reason I am considering this is just the pure astonishment I get out of how much power can be brought out of a DOHC 4 banger. I know that DOHC could make a bit of difference, since you dont just have one cam for both the intake and the exhaust. If there wouldnt be much difference, I will prolly go with the LS1 because they are alot easier to come by and I am pretty sure that there are more performance parts for them. Also, Its time for people to get with the times on technology and I think that the Northstar Engine is pretty dang advanced.

motor build

I would definately go with the LS1. I have a Northstar and I'll tell you now, performance parts are scarce and hard to find.

Re: motor build

www.chrfab.com can take care of you if you go with the Northstar. I also agree that its time to advance. If only GM would learn that they could get more sales.

Build up the LT1. No reason to go for the ls1. They only run better stock. Check out cmotorsports.com for heads and cam packages.

But then again, going with the Northstar keeps the Caddy theme going. Something to consider.
