I'm to the point of calling overhead garage door or cadillac.com for help. I have followed the owner's manual instructions (and so has my wife) repeatedly. I can't get past the part of the home link button blinking slowly. It never blinks fast to indicate that it has linked/communicated with the garage door unit.
Any help would be appreciated from those who had no issues programing theirs. Thanks in advance. Gary

I recently had trouble programming my 2019 XTS using the “Learn” button on the fixed door opener. I tried several times and it did not work. I then used the remote and it programmed fine. I held the remote inside the car next to the HomeLink. Basic shelf each button for about 5 seconds and it worked.
Hope this helps.

Did you press and hold outside buttons on homelink to clear any previous settings ?
Yes. I did that first. Sorry for not mentioning.

You could try what Dr Donut suggested if that doesn't work try using learn button on door opener then keep pushing button you want setup on homelink repeatedly slowly until light in opener blinks

I read helps on the homelink page that said to try different homelink buttons in your car. I got the last button on the right to work easily. I don't understand why I couldnt get the first or second button to work even though I had previously cleared all prior codes that were programmed from the prior owner (if they had programmed any of the 3 buttons). anyway it works now. Thanks for your responses and help. Love this forum so much. Glad I got back into another caddy, my 5th one so I could have something to chat about in the forum. Happy Thanksgiving to you all.

Just an aside. I had programmed mine (first button) without issue. Then for certain reasons I needed a new code, so first I had to enter it on the pad to store it in the door opener. Tested it and confirmed that the new code was there and the old one gone. Went to the car in the garage to see if it would open the door with the old code, and the door opened. The car while shut off had recorded and stored the new code all on it's own. Didn't know it could do that.

I had problems trying to program with my 3 button Genie handheld remote. The car's Homelink would never successfully complete step #2 (from the owner's manual). Only after switching to a 1 button handheld remote was I able to successfully complete the process as stated in the owner's manual. About $34 on amazon. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00I0A46MA?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details&th=1.
