I have a 2005 Cadillac CTS 3.6L and I am getting a hollow rattling noise when I accelerate to 1k RPM and then to 2k RPM, but it subsides after that, while steadily driving. Possibly the AC Compressor is going? Would it be something else? If i were to replace the AC Compressor Relay, would that solve the noise problem without having to replace the compressor?

I'm experiencing a similar rattle, after I got under my car it turned out to be my exhaust resonator it has a loose weld inside. I got a replacement resonator from ebay it's a walker brand, I have yet to weld it on been busy lately, but you will know for sure if you go under the car and hit the resonator a bit with a big metal objec and listen for a rattle.
