pretty sure I need head gasket (coo-let smell in exhaust bad and cloud out of it) is it really 3500-4000 for a north star engine, requiring removal or can they just sleeve it in place for less

and any one have a good shop in Philadelphia area 200 miles not to far for right price and good rep and good warranty (you know long and never used)

I started a new thread for you rather than hijack an old one.

Sleeve it? :hmm: Not sure what you are talking about, but the answer is no.

Depending on where you take it, yes it could be that much and yes the engine does have to be removed, bolt holes must be drilled, retapped and inserted or studded. It can and has been done with the engine in the car, but that's generally considered harder and much more work.

well - that's on the high side - like dealer prices -

HOWEVER - if you are referring to the 1991 Deville you have in your profile -
you don't have to worry about Northstar prices -

your 1991 Deville has a 4.9L engine - NOT a Northstar -
