I then went and bought a 79 Coupe for 700.00. Now I cant get rid of the 85 junkyards will give me up to 50.00. LOL I just spent 500.00 on a tranny. Now here is where I need help this guy at the Junkyard said a 4.5 will fit into the 85 is this true?

Yeah, a 4.5, and I believe a 4.9 will fit right in... Direct bolt on if im not mistaken....

You should be able to part the 85 out and get much more than $50... Id say you could sell the tranny for 400....

The 79 has the 425 engine and the TH400 transmission. The 472 and 500 engines are a direct swap for the 425; 472s were used in all Cadillacs in 68+69, and all Cadillacs except Eldorados from 70-74, the 500s were used in Eldos from 70-76 and all Cadillacs except Seville in 75+76. There are performance parts available for the 425s, 472s, and 500s at the vendors listed here: http://cadillacpower.com
