Help with my 2005 STS...

I am confused.

I bought a fully loaded 2005 STS about a month ago. For all I can tell, it's fully loaded; I read the manual and didn't see one thing that wasn't included; it's the 4.6L V-8, by the way.

But for the life of me, I can't figure out the HUD. I can SEE the actual lens for it in the back of the car (or I assume that's what it is). It has the DIC control panel; it's missing two buttons, though.

What gives? This car has EVERYTHING else. There literally isn't one feature that it's missing. I can't imagine they put every single option on but one.

Simple if it's missing the two buttons you highlighted, then it does not have the HUD. I too have a 2006 STS4 V8 with everything except the HUD display.:hmm:

Me too. The hud and adaptive cruise was a $2300 option package that wasn't included in any other packages.
I'm not sure what you're referring to when yo talk about the "lens for it in the back of the car" but the HUD display is located in the dash (rectangular hole in dash top above the instrument panel) and reflects off the windshield from there.

Maybe you're looking at the parking assistant on the other side of the 5rd brake light?
See that's what's weird. I actually DO have adaptive cruise control.

By lens I mean in the back of the car, in the ceiling appears to be a lens.
On the Spare Tire Cover there's a label with a bunch of codes. Mine has K59 and on the build sheet provided over on the CTS-V forum for my VIN, I see it described as - ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL INCLUDES HEAD-UP DISPLAY. I suppose there's a code for HUD only but I can't imagine HUD without Adaptive Cruise.

My controls are exactly as pictured (2006 STS4 1SG). I suppose yours might have been replaced with the wrong unit but doubtfull. My wife's STS doesn't have it and her controls are different in other ways, too.

BaTu was right on about the display projector on the top of the dash. If you don't see that when looking in the windsheild from outside, it cannot have HUD. A lot of otherwise 'loaded' cars don't have it. I hope you weren't misled. It's cool.

Yea but, that's Not anything to do with the HUD... (do you have the "hole" in the dash I described?)

Try this, because maybe you DO have HUD but the brightness is turned all the way down, the round knob in the center controls the brightness for the HUD but ONLY after you "pull up" on it to put it in the HUD control position (that's what the pictures in the red boxes you posted is telling you)

In the inside of the car, right?
Those are the three status lights for the backup sensors that tell you how far you are from an obstacle.
I feel like such an ass. I noticed that today while I was turned around backing up. I felt like a moron!
Anayaroli,

Don't feel bad, there are a lot of beeps, lights, etc. I'm afraid you may have been told wrong about your car. It doesn't sound like you have HUD.

Does your cruise control work normally? If a cruise control light is green on the dash when on, you don't have HUD.

It's still a great car.
I know what you mean. I was kinda bummed that my 2007 STS V8 didn't come with HUD. However, the way I look at it, is now I have a lot more to look foward to when I buy my next STS (or whatever Caddy will be offering at that time).
