Help me choose

Hello all, hoping to get in to cadillac ownership very soon.
I am looking at a 95 deville 4.9 with about 80k miles, a 99 N* with about 70k and a 98 with about 90k The 95 is about $3k cheaper than the 99 and about 2k less than the 98. They all look to be in excellent shape, (the 99 looks to have almost no seat wear in all but the drivers seat, which has very minimal) What are some things to look for, and should I put a premium on the northstar over the 4.9? Any and all advice is appreciated as I am new to the cadillac world and know very little. TIA all...

Re: Help Me Choose

my 4.9 runs crappy when i put anything lower than 93 octane in it. if you get the 4.9 you could save money for repairs down the road...:hmm:
I personally would chose the 95, but then again, I don't know much about the FWD DeVilles. You should post this in the FWD DeVille forum, you'll get a lot of feedback there! Good luck!

Out of those you listed I would choose the 95 with the 4.9 engine. Good cars. They are all good of course. But all things being equal I would take a 4.9 over a Northstar any day. Nothing against the N* its a great engine if properly maintained. But buying used, unless you have records to back up service dates, then you just DONT KNOW. You dont know if it was serviced as it should have been or not.

I say get the 4.9 and have the extra cash put away. As with any used car purchase little things will needs to be done. Its best to have money aside for such things. Good luck and let us know what you get. Cadillacs RULE! :D
Re: Help Me Choose

design wise (especially interior) theres a night/day difference in my eyes......I'd go with the 98 or 99, looks a generation ahead
Re: Help Me Choose

If the N* is in good shape it is the better performer by far. I am in a 89 with the 4.5 TBI engine and the next Caddy I get I hope will have a N*. I am looking forward to the performance. The maitenance is not that much different until there is a problem. I am fairly competent when it comes to mechanical repairs so I am not afraid to get something that might require brains and elbow grease! lol
the power of the northstar is greater than my 4.9's though.
