Map DVD

Ok, I have moved on to another topic.

I am now checking my Navigation system. My map DVD is part#10381281 version 1.00. It appears to be the original one that came with the car.

I saw somewhere in a thread that people updated and had their old DVD available. I would like to find one that I don’t have to the major update on the system.

Does anyone happen to have a DVD they no longer need?

Thanks for the consideration.

Re: Map DVD

As far a I know, you can only use the 05 and 06 DVD,
without upgrading the FIRMWARE, to accept the
newer DVD's.There is NO 2015 version of the DVD.
MAP DVD's are already one year old when produced.

Re: Map DVD

All the two-disk DVD map updates will work without the firmware update.

Re: Map DVD

The disc that came out for 2012 required the F/W update. Discs before that were fine without.

Re: Map DVD

So, I need to find someone that has updated their FW and has a 2011 or earlier map dvd they don't need anymore.

Another question, what is the 2 disc set for? What does the second disc do?

Thanks for all your help.

Eastern US and Western US discs. I think they were the same, but the points of interest were only included on the correct disc.

Re: Map DVD

The firmware update is not done via the map disc.
It requires a special set of CDs and a tech 2 to install.
If you have magnetic ride control it locates the suspension adjustment buttons to the first config screen on the nav unit where you can set / recall driver 1 / 2 settings. If you have mrc and these buttons are already on the config screen then you can use the latest single disc map for the STS / C6 vette / Grand Prix / Saab 9-3.

Re: Map DVD

LC, don't have the MRC and don't really want to update the FW. That is why I am looking for a 2011 map DVD that someone doesn't need anymore. Thanks for the input.

I am in need of a version 7.0 Map DVD for 2011 update. Hopefully someone has one laying around they don't need any more. It is still a single disc. Thanks in advance.

Re: Map DVD

There is considerable overlap of POI's between the East & West disks. That's a good thing because the Nav is MUCH less useful when you can't simply type in an address, phone number, intersection, business or accommodation. When you don't have a destination defined, the Nav won't provide details regarding services at upcoming exits (as available) etc.

The West disk contains POI's for all but the Atlantic States. The East disk peters-out west of the mighty Mississippi (if memory serves). For convenience, here's the part number list again:

STS Navigation Disk Versions/GM#/Year/ISO-Name(s)/2nd/Alternative

Version 7 is the last 2-disk set for the STS/Corvette/Saab/Pontiac etc. I presume you are looking for a West disk?

I'm in the east so I could get by with the East disc

I have a Garmin I use all the time with life time map upgrades.

I would just like my STS to be a little more efficient

So map V8.0 and up requires the NAV update, but is the update backwards compatible? Meaning once you update can you still use old disks, or only V8/9?
