okay i am seriously upset! i partially blame myself for this but here goes...

i went and had a stereo installed. it was a jvc. now my 92 seville has a bose systme so they had to add some extra electronics and wiring to get the system to work.

now before i had them install this there was absolutely nothing wrong with the interior lights. when i went to go get in my car after leaving the shop i noticed all the interior lights above the doors were on. i figured fine... these guys turned them on for light when install ing the stereo.

okay so i go to turn them off and all of them except the right rear one turns off. all day long it stayed on and i couldn't get it to turn off. the only thing i could do was shove a dime in it to keep it in the depressed position so it stayed off. now i thought maybe it was just that the switch on that light went bad. fine.

but then later in the day. the footlights in the front came on and they wouldn't shut off. they still won't shut off. AND then the front interior light above the driver's side door won't shut off much like the other one on the back. so i had to shove a dime in that one too.

now on top of all this i am moving this weekend and have very little time to deal with this for the next two days.

also supposedly the technical shop guy at the stereo place won't be in until tuesday. i am concerned about the health of the battery at this point and could care less about the stereo now.

i want the lights to shut off.

does anyone have any suggestions as to what the possible problem may be? how do i deal with this kind of crappy work? do i have any recourse?

(oh yeah, also, the trunk is not opening anymore!!!:banghead:
AND i was in that place from 10:30 am until 3:30pm. that is just insane.)

please help. let me know if you need more info.

flyright,
I am very sorry to hear about all the interior light problems, and much as i hate to say this you are going to have to take your car back to that same stereo shop and have a different "more Experienced" Installer do a Uninstall/Reinstall to solve the problem at the shops expense! You have to be very carefull these day's on who you allow to work on your cars, ESPECIALLY A CADILLAC!!! I only have 2 installers that i will let do installs in Caddys and they are both Certified Installation Techs. Take your car back to them and tell them you want a Certified tech to fix the problem.

Thats unfortunate..... Sorry man....... best thing you can do is drive it, and when your going to be away for a while, take off the negative terminal off your battery....

okay here's the deal

i took it back. the guy said that the remote entry module (not the remote but the actual module in the car) is bad. said that when he hooks it up to the system it keeps turning off and on the lights and locks. it's fine when it is pulled out of the circuit. anyways i have to either replace that module $250 or get an aftermarket keyless entry $100. hmmm. what am i gonna do? ha ha. anyways, that's the deal.

thanks for the replies guys.

FlyRite,
I would go to a junk yard and find the module, where did you price one for 250.00 ? I just bought a BCM for my 87 and 8 relays for 25.00 Don't go to the dealer! But it seems awful strange the problems started after you had the stereo installed, it sounds to me like the shop blew the module accidentally  :banghead:

I think if you try hard enough, you could get the shop to help out, if not pay for the entire thing!

Maybe......

When I first saw this post I thought I knew what the problem was. Then I saw that it happened right after a stereo install. Screwed wiring somewhere.....

The 92s have a specific problem with the modules for the interior lamps. The problem you would see is the interior lamps would turn on/off all night long. The root cause is really a bad door switch (which is in the handle assembly). Cadillac did issue a new part #/module that would 'see' this problem and ignore the issue and keep the lights off.

Still the root cause is a bad door switch.

I suspect your stereo boys have been making some calls.......and someone mention the module may be bad. There has been a TSB issued on this module etc for the interior lamps staying on.

I still think they tapped into the wrong circuit somewhere.

Good luck!
