2001 Seville SLS (Northstar 4.6) will NOT give us the time of day. it made NO noises when turning key. so, started with cheap options first...

cleaned battery cables...no luck

swapped relays around...started once, then no luck

put in new battery...no luck

put in new starter...started once, then no luck

so, after the second start, we noticed the check engine light came on. so, we pulled the codes...

PO335 crank sensor circuit A
PO340 cam sensor A
PO385 crank sensor circuit B
PO601 check sum error
PO507 idle control high

cleared the codes, diconnected the battery for a few hours, replaced the knock sensor (after tearing apart to make sure we didnt forget something from the starter swap) and we are still at square one.

THEN we notice that we have a theft system service light....AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRG!!!

...anyone got any ideas???

Sounds like you have some major electrical problem.

Turn on your headlights, and turn the ignition key as if it start it. What do the lights do?

I think you're ultimately going to have to bring it to the dealer. Checksum error is very bad. It means your ECM was fried somehow. It may not be permanently damaged, but it's memory was probably erased. I don't know if the theft system will disable the starter or not on the 2001 model, but I really do think you've got one or more big problems.

Did this happen suddenly? Was your car hit by lightning?
