Hello everyone,
Been looking for a cts-v to purchase and stumbled across this board. Looks like you guys have a lot of information on here! Great looking forum!

Had a quick question.... Is there someone on here that can run a vin and tell me what work has/or hasn't been done on one of these at the dealer?

Sometimes I miss my tech job at GM since I had those perks!!!!

Currently thinking of going to look at a Black/Ebony V 05 but has a supercharger so I am not sure if I want something that already has had a rough life also depends on how clean the install was and whatnot. I normally mod something myself and tend to just buy stock. But if the price is right I may consider it. It has 57k on it though which is nice.

Any thoughts I Would love to hear about them.

Welcome. Sounds like a good find. Getting harder to find lower mileage cars.

Having a supercharger shouldn't dissuade you from considering the car. From someone whose car has a supercharger, I know my car hasn't seen abuse beyond an NA car. Further, If the car shows normal wear with nothing broken and nothing making strange noises, I'd say give it a chance.

Where are you located?

The low mileage would be an indicator (not absolute) that it wasn't abused

I am up on the coast in Washington. Pacific northwest.

Well more comes to light on the car. I ran the carfax and the first owner had it for something like 5 years 1 month which would indicate someone that like to have a warrenty all the time. The second owner owned it for something like a little over 2 years and now it is at this place for sale. So 2 owner car. the first owner ran it for about 38k second pushed it to 57k. The place I talked with was telling me that they were still servicing the car and had not had a chance to even put it on the lot yet. They also said they put 2 new tires on it........ I would assume the back lol.

I may just make a run up there and check it out further.

I asked them to send me some pics and engine bay shots as well. They know that it is not stock and has the blower but they couldn't tell me much about it so I may need check it out to see what all has been done.

Count on it.

Listen to the differential if you get a chance to drive it. Radio off, go about 45 MPH in 6th gear and accelerate lightly. It you get a whining sound from the back, it's the dif. Not saying that's completely bad unless the noise is over-the-top loud. Can you find out if the diff has ever been replaced? Does it have stock axles? I have an upgraded diff and aftermarket axles ... my diff whines, but I'm not worried about it with the axles.

Nothing wrong with a modded car as long as it was done right and maintained. Before buying it I would pay to have it professionally checked out. If the tuning was not right or any other number of factors, the motor could be hurt, etc. Just be very throuough and cautious is what I would say.

Doesn't hurt to ask if they have contact information for the previous owner. Would be good to talk to the previous owner and get a general feel for how the car was used.

Well they will be in for a surprise when I bring my EFI Live software over to look at the tune before purchase (I have been into tuning other vehicles for years but just got into the EFI live software after working with lots of other systems). Also beings that I run an Auto shop (family run business) out here and am an ASE cert'd master tech it will get a professional look over by myself. I have the diff numbers written down so that will be checked on as well.

I worked with a magnacharger on a Customers 04 V a while back and did some tuning on it (used to work at a dyno shop before coming back to the family shop) and I really loved that car. Thats what planted the bug about the V being a great car.

Does anyone run with EFI live on here or are most guys on HP tuners around these parts? I have the efi live from tuning mostly duramax's but by the look of it, it will work great on the V as well.

Seems like the more I dig the more it is like lipstick on a pig on this particular vehicle. I think I will keep looking!
