Does anyone know if the HD radiator can be used in any Seville STS. On GMpartscenter.net there are 2 radiator options, i wanted to go with the HD option if everything fits like it should, it shows that it will fit. HD part # is 52484076.

You don't need one. The existing or OEM replacement is more than adequate - in Texas, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, or Fairbanks.

The secret to reliable Northstar cooling is a clean system, properly maintained.

Please see the two following posts.

IF - and it's very doubtful - the car has HD cooling you'll have a code of V03 on the sticker under the spare tire cover and you'll see a pair of oil cooler lines running from the filter adapter around to the front side of the passenger side end tank on the radiator.

The filter adapter with HD cooling and engine oil cooler. You most likely don't have it.

Both radiators use the same size "coolant" cooling core so there's no reason to go with the oil cooler radiator.

The ONLY difference in the V03 radiator is the oil cooler in the passenger side end tank - which essentially lowers coolant capacity by about a pint. - coolant does circulate around the oil cooler tank, so that's reduced coolant volume in the end tank. Take a look in View A - the O-rings #15 seal the engine oil lines to the cooler fittings - and that cooler is a hollow rod extending the full length of the end tank. And, FWIW, that engine oil cooler is "cooled" by upper radiator hose coolant so the engine oil is kept at the correct 190 - 215 operating temperature.

Why would it be "nice to have" ? Do your engines normally overheat during mountain driving ?

Yes, you could convert the engine to V03 with the oil cooler - but you need the different oil filter adapter (#7), the connector fittings, and the flex/hard oil lines. Good luck.

I am still learning about this car, so please understand. I have never driven my Cadillac, I bought it in Colorado 2 years ago, had it loaded on a flat bed and brought to Raton NM where I live, and it has sat there ever since. I have been slowly restoring it over the past 2 years, so some of my questions that may seem stupid to some are just me inquiring and learning by asking, that is why I love coming here, for the shared experience of others that love Cadillac's and it helps me learn about this car, I live in a very rugged mountainous are so I just thought the HD transmission might be nice to have but that is not the case after talking with you so I will not do that, I was merely inquiring and asking what benefits it would have if any. This car was infamous for over-heating so I was just looking for any extra help I could give it but I see it is not needed, and I have studded the top and bottom end of my engine so that issue won't repeat itself again I hope.I know so many do not maintain the coolant system like they should which was probably the case with my 98 Seville because they were young college kids who did not take care of this poor Cadillac, but I will cherish it and take the best of care of it. thanks!!
