1998 STS Heating problems. 2 hoses on firewall - 1 seems cold other hot. I am told there is a valve that must open in order to heat interior, regulated by computer - if this is the case how do I tell if valve is defective or computer or ???????? Help is appreciated. Tks.

I think the only 'valve' is a heater damper door that allows incomming air to pass through the heater core. BOTH lines should be hot I think because coolant is HOT going in to the core and VERY WARM -> HOT comming out depending on how high the air is flowing accross the core.

I do not believe there is any heater control valves. I do vaguely remember them. Hot coolant continually flows through the heater core. Cabin temp is controled by the air mix door. After passing through the heater core, hot air is mixed with outside air to achieve the requested temp or is dumped overboard if no heat is required.
