Cute, just out there pricing parts and I noticed that for replacement generators there are two. One with heated windshield one without. Hence my question.

Heated windshields have a gold tint to them in certain light conditions and are very, very expensive, at least they are in aircraft. One panel of a heated aircraft windshield is around $22,000. They can also crack spontaneously.

If you don't have a switch to activate windshield heat then I doubt that you have it. I don't know what years it was available, but I don't think it was too common.
Its just something I saw and was wondering about. So there would be a switch somewhere for it, thanks for the info.

there will be switch somewhere thats says de-ice on it

the heated windshiled was only used in certain years and was dis-continued

new they were about 800.oo and an option on my 94-eldawg

thery are not made any more. you would have to go to a salvage yard to get one.

can't fix small chips in them like regular windshileds. there is a film in them that carry the current. and in certain light conditions you could see the reflective film sandwhiched in the glass. even in the summer you could turn it on and it would block the suns rays from heating up the interior

cracks very easily, had mine on this winter (second time ever) and the wiper skipped over a piece of ice on the winshiled and....
u guessed it, cracked it in a small place, 15-minutes later the crack ran the whole length

if you have to get a new winshield, get the OEM replacement, not one from those vans that comes to your house and installs. they are from PPG (there glass is now made in china)

OEM (which comes from Canada) is thicker and has better tolerences

Those windshields also cause a myriad of problems with radar detectors and can affect radio reception as well.

Heated windshield wiper nozzles make a ton more sense.
