I am afraid I already know the answer to this problem but I will check anyway. The drivers side heated seat on my 2002DHS stopped working. I know these have been a problem. Just in case is there anything else that shoild be checked first before asking dealer for a repair quote such as fuses, plugs etc?

Each seat has a fuse for the heat in the rear fuse panel (under the rear seat) but your fears are probably correct - it's likely one of the elements gone bad. As I learned the hard way, voltage to all of the elements can be reduced or cut off by the module (each seat has its own module too) if a single element fails. The tough part is determining which one is bad. The DHS has 3 elements in the cushion and one in the back. The dealer will check the resistance of each in order to determine which is bad. They will then hack your seat open to replace said element.

I'd check the fuses first. Lacking a blown fuse, I'd say an element is bad.
