OK, so I know this topic has been run through the wringer but now that winter is pretty much over I'm willing to fix my wife's heated seats. My CCSM has a burnt connector as does the pigtail going into it. I'm planning on replacing both. My confusion comes from the parts supply end on the job. As I talk to the supply stores (Autovalue, carquest, etc) I get the information that the CCSM is a dealer only part and must be installed by them because it needs to be programmed. I've seen here on the forum that many people have installed themselves with no mention of programming. So my big question of the day is...Is this something I can do myself (It seems fairly simple) or does a dealer have to install.

Also if this is something that is capable of being done at home what are the part numbers for the CCSM and Pigtail?

Glad to see someone else pinpointed the problem. I scrape the burnt crap off mine every couple months so they work again... im afraid if i replace anything itll just do the same thing. Somewhere they undersized the wire or connectors for that one connection. Id hardwire it if i could lol.

I dont know why it would need programmed. It doesnt do all that much besides a relay center. Last time i was down there i remember it being like at&t or samsung or some communication name on it so i thought it was a onstar computer. Track it down from the actual company and it mighr be cheaper than from gm. Or find a used one from a junkyard. Car-parts.com
