Headlight Washer Gremlins

on both my cars. On the CTS, when I start the car, if I immediately turn on my headlights (within a second or so of startup) the headlight washers activate once. At first I thought it was steam coming out the grill until I realized what it was.

On my CTS-V, periodically, inexplicably, the headlight washers pop out on their own. This is with lights on (not auto) and the windshield wipers completely off. I think it only does it with the lights on (when it's dark I can see the shadows from the washers) but I am not sure during the day. And I don't think it's spraying, just popping out. Though it's hard to tell for sure.

Anyone else experienced anything like this? Is there a way to disable them? I am under warranty on both cars, but you know what it's like to get an intermittent problem fixed...

check in the owners manual for the explanations of which fuse is the hdlight washers. The is one fuse and one bracker(dont know if its spell like that) for the headlight washers. Just take off the fuse and put the headlight on, and spray some washer. Check if its still working. It shouldn't.
I didnt see a fuse that is for the headlight washers only, but admittedly, I did not look that closely. I will look again. Thanks.
from the owner's manual:

relay: HDLP WASH RELAY MINI-OPT (Headlamp washer motor) - Fuse

relay: HDLP WASH C/B-OPT (Headlamp Washer motor) - Breaker

So one is a fuse and the other one is a bigger breaker, you cant miss it ;)
I've had my headlight washers do the same thing twice. Both times it was in the same area, parking garage. I know it didn't know where it was, but just the fact that the automatic light feature came on. However, it only sprayed once. Instead of the normal two times when you press the windshield wash.

Also, on another note. I have taken the bumper off, to put in HID high beams and change the low beams to match in color temp with the high beams. What I am getting at, is the fact that the head light washers them self's are forced out by the pressure of the washer fluid. So they are not motorized, and if you have seen them come out, via the shadow. Then yes they did spray.

Exactly but there is a second pump inside the washer fluid reservoir. You can disconnect the fuse to that motor so no more pressure in the hdlight washer.

this is one hdlight sprayer. When they broke, I had to fix them si I took a shot at one.

Yeah oops, left that part out about the second motor in the reservoir.

But, how come your's broke? Was there snow on them when you sprayed your windshield. And of course since the car can care less what is in front of the headlight sprayer, they went off and broke?

That was one of the things I was worried about during the snowy days. I just bought mine back on December 17th. Wasn't that bad of a winter for when I "had" to go out for work or what not. So I really dont know how that would be with ice and such.

That's another reason I want to disable them. I never had the V out in the snow, but this past winter, after driving in some serious snowfall in the CTS, when I got home, there was a mountain of blue slush stuck to one of my headlights.

I think the washers are counter-productive for the most part.

What happened is that with winter weather and all the calcium, the headlight cover made of plastic dries a lot and can cracks any time. Those hdlight washer, if you see the picture, there's is 2 screws that is suppose to hold on in those 2 littles round plastic. Those 2 small plastic tabs is part of the headlight and with the calcium and dirt, they cracked and finally they broke. I'll try to find to original post I did for this.

They didn't felt on the ground because they are hold by the washer fluid hose. So when I was spraying fluid, they sprayed and then they only came half in the lens. Another sign that the tabs are broken is if you can move without forcing the sprayer.
