Recently had one of my HID low beams go out on my 07 CTS V. Was figuring I might as well get some new housings with the halos in them instead of just changing the bulb. The website says that these housings will not work with the HID system on the car... Anyone know if that's true at all, and if so, what are my options for replacing the housings?

I am 90% sure they will not work. I do not know which ones you are talking about but typically the aftermarket halo headlights are halogen. HID are different bulbs then halogen. Most importantly the difference is the distance of light source to the apex of all the mirrors in the headlight, change this distance by mod'ing a halogen headlight housing for an HID bulb and you will blind other drivers.

Can't say for sure, but it looks like those headlights use a H3 or H7 HID bulb. Our cars use a D1S HID bulb. This may be why they say not compatible with factory. If the housing comes with a decent projector lens the cutoff should be pretty sharp and you most likely won't blind other drivers. If you buy those headlights WITH compatible HID bulbs and ballasts that are powered from the headlight it "should" work. If the mating connector to the car is identical, I don't think you'll have a problem. No guarantee though.

Hi there,

These headlights will not work, if your CTS V has got factory HIDs. Halogen and HID headlight assemblies differ not only in the bulb type and bulb housings, but also in the headlight setup. So, the lights will not work right. I have checked our headlight inventory for you, and the only option that will work is Replace Headlight for 2007 CTS-V equipped with OE HIDs.

Feel free to contact us directly if you have any questions.
