Hey Guys,

can anyone tell me what size torx is needed for the head bolts on a Northstar ? I can't remember.

Head bolts are not held on with Torx head bolts. They use regular hex heads, though I don't know what size they are.

I think Ranger means hex as in ALLEN hex, not Torx. It's 10mm.

Torx is one thing, Allen is another, and the Northstar standard hex head Grade 8 bolts are another.

The cylinder heads use 2 M6 and 8 M11 bolts.

Every Northstar I've worked on had round-headed headbolts (ten /head), and an Allen keyed hole in the bolthead that took a male hex (10mm)tool to remove. I think that's what the origional poster was looking for; the tool size to remove the bolt. The thread size is M11.

OK..........Earth to James.......The 3 M6's are hex head, the 10 M11's are internal drive.

Now I'm thoroughly confused. Guess I should go out and check the FSM, but I was in the garage all day working on my wife's compressor clutch and am just to bruised, bloodied and battered to get up. I'll just stand corrected.
