The '08 Sedan gets turned in tomorrow for the '11 Coupe. I already deleted all of my name tags in the on-star phone directory and all of my addresses and previous destinations in the nav.
But how about my 150+ songs I have stored in the HDD??
Should I bother deleting them or just leave'em for the next owner?

Anything else I may have forgotten?

Thanks,
Mark JD

Thanks Rayle,
Yes..... forgot about the homelink. Will do that right now.
But how do I clear the HDD? The manual doesn't say. It only lets me do each song individually.

In my 2011 manual, these are the instructions, although I could not find the same in the 2008 manual. You can delete an entire category, but I couldn't find directions for deleting the entire drive in one easy step:

Deleting a Recorded Song or Category

DEL (Delete): Press the DEL
button to delete the track that is
currently playing or select a track
from one of the song lists.
To delete an entire category, select
a category and press DEL.

You can go into the hidden menu and then... Functional Setup > Download > HDD Music Clear...this will delete all songs at once. I can't remember exactly how to get into hidden screen because I don't have my car with me now, but it's a combination of pressing 3 buttons and a 4 digit code. Maybe someone else can help you there or do a seach on the forum...it's here somewhere.

sorry I don't remember how to do it, but I know you can delete all songs without the hidden menu, because I did it when I sold my 09. And I know for fact that I did not have to delete each individual album, or I would have just left them.

Thanks for all the help everyone. Car is gone as of yesterday. New owner will have about 200 Rock/ Alternative songs. They will have to delete them themselves if they want.

Just hope the kids aren't in the car when Eminem or Linkin Park come on!!:tisk:

I disagree. The ONLY way to delete all songs on the HDD in one go with a singular command is via the hidden menu.

After I bought my CTS, I noticed the guy/girl that had before me obviously had two preferences for music. ABBA and Country. Due to my lack of experience with the car, I deleted each song one by one. Took almost an hour to complete.

On my 2011 non-nav, pressing FAV+CONFIG+INFO brings up the same screen as if pressing CONFIG alone. There is no CLR HD (or similar) function on this screen or any sub-screen, so it sounds like this ability to delete the entire HDD in one step is no longer an option, at least on the non-navs.

Try this.

Press HDD, then press Config. On my 2009 non Nav radio, I get the screen in this photo.

I just got a 2008 CTS, and the HDD is full of classical orchestra music. I'm not sure if I should keep it or delete it LOL I typically don't listen to that stuff but clicked over and Tchaikovsky's 5th was playing so I cranked it up! Still haven't figured out the HDD function yet, I've never even heard of such a cool option before. Thanks for the info on deleting all if it comes to that!
