Just pulled the pads that were on the car when I got it. They appear to be a Duralast Gold/Premium semi-metallic. They do dust quite a lot. Stop pretty decent. Fronts were almost down to the backing plate, rears a little more than half.

The 5.0 are supposed to be their new and improved HPS pads. They're still selling both HPS and HPS 5.0 and you can get the HPS on sale easily. I decided to try the 5.0 since I've used the HPS on a Z06 and a Silverado.

I bedded in the pads today, let them cool a couple of hours, then drove it some more. Nothing aggressive yet. Slowing from 60-70 to 30 or a bit less is easy and they grab quickly. They have a nice initial bite that you can modulate easily. They are typical of Hawk pads in that you don't need a ton of pedal to engage them. They're really thick pads and just barely fit in within the pistons completely recessed.

Right now the car is very dirty and will be getting cleaned up this weekend. So I can also give some feedback on dust for the waxer crowd ;-) They're ceramic and supposedly a low dust pad and quiet.

I liked the HPS for street use only on my Z06 because they were so low dust compared to any other Hawk pad. Not sure you would want them for competitive autocross as the HP+ seems to still be the go to pad for that. I've run HPS, HP+, HT-10, DTC 60+70 pads so I'm familiar with Hawks in all sorts of environments.

I got them from that popular internet tire company many of us use. About $225 for front and rear.

I'll update after I get a bit more time with them.

After a week of driving they feel really good. Stopping power is excellent. Initial bite is pretty high and requires an easy going foot. After that steady pressure and they're very linear feeling. Braking is very consistent from one stop to the next. Just took a little adjusting to the initial bite. In the wet there seems to be no real difference. Operating temp range of the pads is very good for street use. I'd even use them for casual autocross without a second thought. They're quiet and so far don't appear to be heavy dust makers.

I'll do a few panic stops on them from 70 and 45 to see how they fare in typical speeds I travel at. They're advertised to hold you right on the edge of ABS. We'll see how that works out with my tires. I have almost new Firehawk Wide Ovals. Nowhere near as good as my PS3s but they'll do for now.

They're better than the original ones. Which is why I believe they are phasing out the original HPS. After several hundred miles I still like them a lot. I can bring the car down from 100 without a problem. From 70-30 repeatedly with little fade. Would not take them on track but would autocross with them. Good stopping power and modulation. Quiet. Dust is really low. My front wheels are almost as clean as my rears. They do good in the rain too. I think they're a keeper and I won't go more aggressive for my needs.
