I'm considering removing the carbon trim for wood and was looking for tips and projected costs. I will do at least the shifter along with dash/door/console wood and perhaps the steering wheel depending on cost. Is it a simple task? I'm somewhat concerned about a careless removal/install leaving damage. Any tips?

I went to the company that makes the trim for Cadillac. They make a set of overlays that look and feel just like the car came with the wood option. It comes with all of the same pieces except for the steering wheel and shifter knob. The cost of the kit is about the price of one piece of replacement trim. The only problem is that they are contracted to Cadillac and can not offer the factory wood, but do offer a number of choices. I picked one close to factory and they custom made it for me. The dealer recently removed my radio and didn't even realized that I had the new trim. Keep in mind this is not one of those cheap overlay kits that they list on eBay, this wraps the old trim pieces. The cost was about $200 plus shipping and the company is Sherwood.

I initially wanted wood trim when I was looking for a CTS. However, I now prefer the carbon fiber style trim with the black leather interior. It makes it look like a sport version of the CTS.

Thanks I will check out Sherwood. I called three dealers today about installing factory wood and two told me it can't be done while the third said not just the wood would be needed but the entire panels too. This seems nuts since Lindsay can provide the parts. But it seems like I can't find a dealer who will install in the NY/NJ area. I get the impression I'm the first to ever ask.

I thought I would share part numbers and the best discounted costs I found for those in the same boat as me. As you can see below, putting in factory wood after delivery is not cheap. I have no clue what a dealer would charge. I sourced the pieces out of state. Local dealers near me were clueless lazy slugs. Anyway here is the info:
