Has anybody figured out how to get a good USB music experience?

For starters, I have to say that I love the sound system and will be re-ripping my CDs at a higher bitrate and have considered paring my album collection and using multiple flash drives with different genres/moods. I really want to maximize the potential that this system seems to have.

I've noticed the issue that has been discussed here before: listening to an album but after a stop and re-start of the vehicle, whatever song I was previously listening to will continue but the subsequent song will not be the next from the album but rather the next one in alphabetical order among all songs on the entire drive.

I tried a search on this subforum but I couldn't find a solution to this quirk. I see one poster suggests pausing the song prior to vehicle shut down and I'll try that later today.

I can attest to observing the same problem, so I second your inquiry.

Here is another question for anyone who uses the USB interface: I assume that the "crossed arrows" button turns random play on or off. But how exactly does it work? If you are playing an album, it seems to randomize the order of the tracks on that album. But if you select "Songs", does it randomize the order of play for all the tracks on all the albums on your USB stick? That would certainly provide a varied listening experience on a medium to long distance drive.

Has anyone been able to create Playlists successfully? I have not figured out how to use that option.

And here is an unrelated quirk in the USB screen interface: when you select "Albums", it displays the available albums in correct alphabetical order, but the display of album cover images is all messed up. Some are not displayed at all, and others are displayed multiple times with incorrect albums. It's just a minor annoyance, but a real one.

Is the USB user interface documented anywhere? I haven't been able to find it.

It appears to me that GM has orphaned this whole feature since streaming became predominant. It isn't even fixing obvious bugs, or so it appears.

I can report that I tried this suggestion today, and it did not help. After stopping, pausing the replay with the double vertical line button, and shutting down the car, and then restarting it about 15 minutes later, it finished playing the track that was in progress at the time of shutdown, then moved to another track on a different album rather than the next track on the same album. That is the same incorrect behavior that it has always followed on album replays via USB.
