Group buy?

I was thinking... on the Grand Am site there are always group buys, where if there is 15-20 people or so, a company will offer a product at a cheaper price etc....

I wonder if between all the BB Cad venders, one of them could offer a group buy for something for the BB Cads.

I am not talking about something only a few people could use... like pistons, or something, then agian I don't mean a chrome alternator bracket...

but there has to be something for say, under $100 that would improve the performance of these engines... or maybe a nice little dress up kit? I think it would be cool for a group buy, and I think there are enough people here with intrest to join in.

I don't know if any of the vendors would be into it, but I think that a good thing for a group buy would be the valve covers. They fit into the "dress up" category, many people would probably be interested, but they aren't really in the "under $100" category, but that makes group buy discount more appealing. I would be interested...
I want to buy a product that will kick the s%$t out of anyone who door dings my Cadillac. Maybe it could cost less than a hundred bux. How about (3) 100 uF 450 Volt electrolytics in series charged up with a small inverter?

Count me in for that group buy!
I might be interested in a group buy for valve covers, I'd like some chrome edelbrocks or something, one of my buddies got a pair for his 350 in his El Camino for $119.00 CAD. They were pretty beautiful I must say, They were chrome except on the top where it was like black inlay sort of.

Edelbrock doesn't make valve covers for this engine.

We were talking about these

Are those the ones seen on Ebay? All they need are some baffles.
Yeah, valve covers would be nice....

but the only way I am dumping the factory valve covers is for a GOOD quality after market (not $30 ebay ones) chomre and its gotta say Cadillac in the script writing.

that first pair pictured is perfect!

The nice thing is, they can go on the 425..... and then swap right onto the 500 when I get it built, so nothing lost on my part.
Yeah, the first pair picture is the type I want...or kind of need now. Those are the general design made by Potter, Al, TI, Bulldog, and maybe some others.

Ape, those are not the ones seen on Ebay.

These are the ones seen on Ebay.

Most people with the nice valve covers aren't running PCV setups, or just use a baffled grommet.

Id be fine with those Cadillac ones, in fact I like them better... Who makes them and how much are they?
Many people make them, I think all of the vendors do. Left CadCo off the list I posted earlier.

Prices range from about $200-$375, depending on who you buy them from, finish, etc etc.

Good info. I long ago decided not to give up good features for supposed gains elsewhere. Dressing up the old powerplant is OK but losing the PCV is just not practical on a car used for transportation.
Yeah, even I am still using PCV with the built 509. It's one of those "why not" kind of things.

I'm going to have to be runnign the "Ebay style" covers for a while I think...don't feel like forking over the cash for the nice ones. It has been confirmed that they won't fit over my shaft rockers though...I'll just have to pounds the hell out of them to make them work temporarily
I wonder how much you could get those valve covers that have "Cadillac" engraved on them for if we had enough people together for a group buy?

I'm not sure any of the vendors would do it, and I don't think enough people would be willing to buy enough of the same thing to make it worth it.

Damn I hate being the pessimistic one.
Heh heh, yes, well you are probably right so don't worry about it :)
Why dont you guys just blast your stock covers and them take them to a plater?? So much easier and cheaper and everything is already there!
I'd be up for a pair as long as they had the PCV on the passengers side and a breather hole on the other.
