I have started becomming worried about a grinding noise comming from the passenger side of my 05' CTS. It happens at 60km/h going straight, then again at any speed higher when i turn slightly left. I have 20's on it, so I'm a bit concerned about rushing into the dealership...I have a strange feeling they will immediately blame it on the rims:devil: . The car only has 8000kms on it, which is well under 5000 miles. The rubber is not rubbing on anything, I've been checking for evidence frequently.
I plan on taking the rims off for the winter, but thats not for a couple months yet....is this serious enough to swap back to my factory rims and take it in to be checked?? Anyone else had this happen?

I chased grinding noise on a car for what seemed an eternity. Left turns, right turns, any turns. it would come and go. I put different tires on it, the noises went away and never came back.

I had what sounded like a grinding noise on my CTS with OEM wheels/Tires. It would do it when I turned left and I only noticed is at lower speeds, 90° turns or parking etc. At times the noise was bad. Looked around for wheel problems but everything seemed OK. Then I just happened to touch the inner plastic fender cover in the rigth wheel well and found it was loose, I suppose wind speed could have pushed lower also. A couple of plastic fasteners had fallen out or where never installed. The flimsy rubber seal was hanging down just enough to rub on the tire during turns. Thats all it was, the noise was terrible. If I would not have touched that cover, I would have not notice it was handing down a little.

BTW-Finding those plastic push in bolts was a PITA, I robbed some from my 2004 GMC truck and went to many dealers and body shops looking for them. Finally found some used ones a tech had in his tool box. I was suprised no dealers here had them in stock, thats all the used to hold down the plastic on vehicle anymore.

i have that sound when i make turns also. it's on the left side. driveways, parking lots, any turns from a moderate speed. i've actually adjusted my driving style to accomodate a "non-rub".

the plastic piece was loose ont he right, but on the left i can't find anything. they replaced the wheel bearings, still does it. i'm getting readyt to take it into them again and take one of those shwances for a ride.
