OK, so I have a fun convertible 03 Cobra Mustang, got a F150 for chores & the dirt bikes, got the wifey car so she's taken care of .. so I put the MDX I commute in up for sale & look for another commuter car.

Start looking at BMW 530's, Lexus, and other comfy smart choice cars .. then wifey says, "you're into the US car thing, have you checked on Caddy?". I go to Caddy dealer & ask, whatcha got that's cool .. oh, a CTS V, hmm, well, not looking for a manual for commuting, gas mileage not what I'm looking for, not a comfy fluffy car/suspension ... ahh hec I'll drive it for kicks ... so there I am taking delivery of my new CTS V! LOL, I'm such a goof, not at all what I was planning, but man are my commutes fun, there is just something about this car, it feels soooo good. Anyway, new accidental V owner here & lovin it.

Great source of info here, getting ready to use the V1 wiring info should be a real help.

yup. I test drove mine so I could 'check it off the list' before I bought an M3. Took it home that day. Then I took a gearhead buddy of mine for a ride. It took him a week to give in but he loves his too!

I did the same thing. It is kinda a funny you post this because the BMW dealer called me yesterday about the 06 is was going to buy and never called him back. I didn't know cadillac had a car like this. Im just glad i stopped by the caddy dealer. I was happy i had a car to keep up with my Father-In-Laws 03 M5, so he went and ordered the new one. Time for some mods....

Similar story to mine. I was looking at an X5 4.8, a 645, a new 545, and a used M5. My wife has an Escalade, so I'm by the caddy place for that, and she was telling me look at the V. No way I say, I've had a BMW of one kind or another for 15 years. I go to test drive the above cars at the BMW place (I arrive there in my current X5 4.4), and the guy treats me like a high school punk w/o the cash to buy a mini cooper. I finally get a test drive in the 545, and I tell him I don't like the way it feels, and I am overall disappointed with his attitude and the car. I tell him I'm going to go look at the V because my wife wants me to badly, and he says "nobody cross-shops one of those with a BMW". I tell him from that point forward, I'm cross-shopping, and he better try a little harder (it would have taken only a friendly handshake to get me into the 645 - I wanted that car). I go test drive the V, the people are great, the car surprised me, and I bought it. When the BMW guy called back to see when I wanted delivery of 545 or 645, I told him I cross-shopped my way into a Cadillac.

As heavy said above, just wait until the mod bug bites you.

Is it just me or does it seem like the bmw salesman just don't realize the competion and power that the V has defeated the m series. damn germans haven't figured out that AMERICAN MUSCLE RULES!!!

Our local MBZ guy is waking up to the competition, I pounded him in his new E500 the other day. At first he was giving me tons of crap at the gym for buying a Cadillac and not buying an MBZ, now he says "hows the Monster?"

I think they are aware just look at the new engines coming from MBZ and BMW, they're burning the midnight oil.

BTW, your actions don't sound to goofy to me. I had an order placed on a new GTO. Once I saw the pictures in Car and Driver of a pre-production V and read the "first drive" write up it was over. I bought my V sight unseen and never drove it until I signed the papers. Now that's just stupid.

I was starting to fall out of lust with my M3, but it had happened before. I usually went out and test drove whatever had caught my attention and walked away realizing I loved the M3. That plan saved me from buying a new car for about two years.

Then I drove the V and immediately started working out how to divest myself of my other car assets so I could bring one home. Welcome to the club!

Thanks for the warm welcome! Just finished installing my V1 radar detector per the instructions here .. worked great!!

My new baby is actually an '04, it was a V the dealer got for a friend/other business owner but when it came he couldn't do the deal, the dealer played with it a bit & then it was "left over", I got it with 4200 miles, smells new, and 100K mile CPO, $39K OTD, which compared to the Bimmer #'s I was looking at, was a bargain.

I love my friends' reactions when I tell them i got a Caddy, the disbelief, then the white loafer jokes, then the ride-along, then no more questions .. they then understand. Woo hoo.

The V is NOT WORSE that model airplanes. I just got the bug again and have two new high tech plastic lawn darts in the garage, and I could have easily bought some HRE's and rubber for the same price - but don't tell the wife :shhh:

Well you may be right.
My ex wife blamed the airplanes for whatever went wrong.

I rebuilt my helicopter a few years ago and need to get it airborn again.
Been looking at simulators as my old one is outdated.

The "V" is pretty bad though you gotta admit!:helpless:
