I received my copy of this weeks' Automotive News. The August sales charts are out. Cadillac has reported 4202 deliveries of the new DTS. Sales of the left-over '05's was 1879. Overall, Cadillac had a good month. Only a few hundred units shy of last August. But the year-to-date totals are interesting. Through August of this year, Cadillac sales are 166,293. Last year at this time they totaled 149,683. Another point of interest: Escalade sales actually increased over last August, if only by 777 units. ESV and EXT were off a little. CTS sales were off, too : August this year:3610, in '04: 4365. But in year-to-date, the CTS is ahead of last year by over 4000 units.
(These figures are Calendar year, not model year)

Most of those HAVE to be fleet sales to rental agencies. They seem to be the only places (besides the dealer) that has them in relatively good numbers right now--because there certainly aren't very many private owners yet.

I hate when they do that, but that's the only logical explanation.

I went to Edmunds yesterday and clicked on New Cars, then Cadillac. The 2006 DTS came up as one of the top 5 most researched so I guess it has piqued people's interest.

Yeah, the SAE introduced a new technique this year. Most engines LOST horsepower (especially the Asians, Toyota's Camry went from 210 to 190) but surprisingly, the supercharged N* went from 440 to 469! and the new Vette engine went from 500 to 505!
