I emailed him about that and I am going to copy and paste his exact comments. Give me your opinion.

you full of shit.
I work at the dealership.and I never sell something that I don't know about it.
by the way.
give me your e-mail and i send you some new photos where I installed )^ Corvette NAV into H3 without rewire the car.
And, I never sell people product before I run their vin #
anyway, have a nice day.
to your knowlege, several companys in US including me have a complete data protocol to GM/Ford/etc vehicles BCM, and That's mean You can manipulate with car computer anyway you want to. I can make this Paticular NAV work on the Hona Civic if I need to :)

Now all I told him was that the nav unit uses a completely different harness than the base model radio. The CTS and SRX you can swap base radios with no problem except for the nav on the SRX. I work on these things every day. So how can it be plug and play? If you have a conversion harness, maybe. which I know is not available. But that is the response I got from him. I really did not feel I deserved it. I emailed him back after his derogitory remark telling him the profanity was unwarranted and here is his second response. I hope he does not treat his customers the same way. I would not buy from him judging by his attitude.

but I can do you a big fewer.
when you are in south California let me know, so may be you are going to be the first guy in florida, who is not is stupid and smart as as the rest of them
Respond to this question in My Messages.

Like I stated there was no reason for the profanity and I told him in my third email, with that attitude towards people he will go far in life.

So its sounds like you are confident in the fact that this will not work in a non-nav SRX?? Is that true?

I'd consider the nav unit, but only if it's plug and play. (Or reasonably close to plug and play.)

If it's not plug and play, seems like a dirty trick for Cadillac to play on dealers -- what if a buyer wanted a particular car, but wanted to simply add the nav unit???!!!

I have 4 caddy dealers I do work for. I have owned my own auto electronics company for over 20 years now. Trust me, the base radio uses a different set of plugs. When I add XM to a SRX nav radio it is a totally different plug to tap into. I am going to attempt to post the connectors directly off gm's tech data website. I just can't get this guys hostility.

This picture above is from an 06 SRX and is C1 on the back of a base, bose radio.

The picture above is C1 for the Nav radio. Do they look similiar? No.
I have not figured out how to copy the pinout picture and come out looking as I see it. Maybe a link? http://service.gm.com/servlets/BlobShtml?ShtmlFile=1615985&evc=sm&pubid=1270&cellId=46726&mspsdsubkey=5196#tab13-1615985

If the link works you can scroll down and see the code options. Like U2R, U2S which is the non nav radio and the U2X which is the nav option. I dont think it will work as you need a password to look at there website. But hopefully get my drift. If he has a conversion harness than there is the possiblility.

Ask GM, they do some stupid things, believe me. You can buy the Nav but make sure he will take it back. I got another email today from him. Read this one:

Hi Dan. as far as my attitude, try this: I get 100 + e-mails a day, and every one trying to educate me. Any way, here is some tech info for you.The NAV for SRX with U57 option, witch is Bose ( you can look inside the glove box)no rewiring required.
it's plug and play kind of deal. The CTS same thing. then there are SRX with U66 option, with 7 speakers audio option. that one I have not tryed yet. but I'm going to rent one ( that's how I do my R&D )and then if you interesting I'll let you know what's deal with that one .and so you know , I do have a programm for expediters, very good prices if you interesting, and i have a lot more other cool stuff, just got Eclipse NAV for toyotas, plug and play,
thanks
Mark

It looks like he rents the cars and puts his radios in to see if they work. His version of R&D. I guess that is one way to do it. He says in his email, as I can understand he has not done a SRX yet. I will wait and see what he says once he tries it.

I talked to the service director at one of the dealerships I work at and he thinks the guy stole them. GM does not make them readily available. I have a STS to put a factory nav in and we went through hell and high water to just get a part number. Specmo, is the company who handles there radios and they were not helpful at all. I suspect this guy is stealing or in some sort of weird ring to sell them on ebay at such a low price. He cannot even type or spell all that well. He said he works at a chevy, hummer dealer, but I bet you he is a lube guy or parts counter person taking them for a ride. He will get his due. The servcie director I talked to is taking it up with GM, they do not want anything like this sold on EBay.

I think he might actually be right. I remember looking at all the diagrams before when I was going to order a nav radio for my SRX and "some" SRX's come with a U57 bose amp with 8 speakers instead of 7 (a center speaker mounted in the front dash). It uses the same connectors as the one with the nav.
As I said I only looked at the diagrams and connectors in documents found from the forums here. You would probably know better DanDan if you work with these things everday. I don't :)

:hmm: Okay guys, I have an '04 SRX with bose and a speaker in the center of the dash. Can I purchase an '04 srx nav takeoff and replace my unit with the nav unit and it have full functionality? My system does not have XM, what would I need to add to also get XM to work (the system says it supports XM)? I live in the Dallas TX area, if anyone could suggest a shop that could do the work! Thanks! :bonkers:
