I just got a used 2005 SRX V8 AWD 8Kmiles- supposedly executive car - light platinum-luxury performance pkg,certified,black leather. For the curious and shopping/selling ones - 39.5K. Maybe a little high but tired of waiting and seem reasonable with certification. Of course this forum says it likely will come down more.

Performance So far so good - but this forum does scare me a little bit - kind of more negative than positive.

Nonetheless anyone have a suggestion to remove the dealer decal without hurting the car.

Mine peeled right off. WD40 does a good job of softening glue and doesn't hurt the finish. I always peel them off. I have also used a hair dryer to help soften the glue.

Try warming, not melting, it with a hair dryer until a corner can be lifted with a wood stick like a chop stick or just your fingernail. Then peel it slowly upward and backward. Sticky residue can be removed with lots of things like mineral spirits or trying WD40 first. Let us know how that works.

I had a similar problem with unwanted plastic decals; my local auto painting guy suggested carefully pulling off the decal with a hair dryer and removing the glue etc with a product found in most hardware stores called "Goo Gone". I successfully used the above on an Olds Silhoutte to remove several large decals; it worked very well for me, and it did not harm the paint or finish. My painter recommended against using "Oops", Acetone, Lacquer Thinner, or other highly advertised paint or glue removing products that could likely degrade the metallic paint and/ or color coat auto finish.

Use " Goo Gone" it's a citrus based adhesive remover. peel sticker back a little and then saturate with goo gone, let it soak a while and then peel it off. You can purchase it everywhere, hardware store, home depot,etc.

My experience has been, if you don't feel like advertising for them(its your car) tell them to take it off-----less headache for you---all my vehicles I have purchased have had them removed before I leave their lot!!!

steel wool and glass cleaner... just don't ever use the steel wool on your mirrors, but it works great on glass

I did the wd-40 - so far so good - I did it in the dark with a flashlight so we will see tomorrow how it looks.

WD-40 works great in removing tar too. Just spray on, let penetrate a minute or so, and wipe off. Learned that from a major car detailer that specialized in work for a blacktop company. He often in, addition to the painted body, had to clean the caked tar, sand and pea gravel from wheel wells. Had to steam after letting WD soak for a while. Came clean nicely!

I'd like to try the hairdryer/wd 40 method on those warning stickers that are on the sun visors. would be nice to get rid of those, too. Hope it will work on the interior.

BTW - I was just lurking here at the SRX page, but to support the 'positive' side of postings, I too was concerned with reading so many problems after getting my second hand CTS. But after a couple months (total of 26k mi on the car), I've had no problems whatsoever. Great car. Hope it stays that way!

nightowle - My SRX visor labels are painted on. Don't think the WD will work and anything that would may melt the plastic. Dealer suggested just painting them. The visors on my DTS are cloth and the labels are decal like. I used a wallpaper steamer to heat/steam the DTS decals and peeled them off with some difficulty with a pair of pliers. Not easy, or fast, but did get the decals off without damage to the visor cloth. For a cloth visor using a steam iron with a wet turkish towel wash cloth between the steam iron and decal may work and not melt the decal to the steam iron. Use full steam.
