Getting close - what is a good deal?

I'm one of those who put the $100 down, which I'm being told now equates for $5k off. The models I'm look at have the $7500 off the price, not a tax rebate. Costco member, $1k. I have a Jaguar, and that is incredibly NOT part of the $3k, so that sticks in my craw.

$13,500 seems to be where I'm at the moment. Sounds like the dealer might try to squeeze some more, they have over 50 Lyriqs sitting on the lot. Looking for a Luxury or Sport 2 or better.

Any advice? Or is this about as good as it will get?

Thanks! It's been a long wait since two years ago when I put the $100 down, but I do like the car. I won't qualify for the $7500 tax credit anymore, so that plus the $5k seems like a limited time offer. Am I reading that wrong?

Thanks!

Did you check for supplier discount from where you work? You might get another $1k.

check here

Also if you can find a car that got caught in the loss of tax credit early this year, it has the $7.5k price reduction regardless of income. It allowed me to get the $7.5k on a car over $80k without income restriction

You can check online for inventory at nearby dealers. Your $5k can move to any dealer

thanks! I can't register for the site maintenance site, I don't have a company code. good to know about the $5k, and they are taking the $7500 off the purchase price. It's the $3k competitor (or whatever it's called) discount I don't get (ugh)

what do you reckon is a good amount off? the lux and sport 2s are around $70k, and they have a lot of them in NorCal (two different dealers have 50+ each.)

I'm seeing some people pull off $16,500, but I'm not sure that's apple to apple.

Thanks!!

Looks like Costco is it. First Responder isn't there either, which looks like it would just be $500. Missing the $3k while owning a Jag is a nut punch

For the month of May, GM was doubling the military discount (Armed Forces Appreciation Month) to $1000, but that ship has sailed so to speak. It wasn't advertised, but my salesman brought it to my attention when we purchased our Lyriq last month

I'm guessing the $3000 Conquest cash was for brands with an EV priced comparably to the Lyriq in their model lineup.

UPDATE: so, I was told by the dealer the $7500 credit does NOT apply to leases, and I don't qualify for the $3k, just Costco $1k and my $5k early deposit credit. so instead of $13,5 I'm at $6k.

thanked him for his time, and left. but I'm reading the $7500 should have applied? at least on the residual? Not clear, but feeling good about passing.

am I missing something elemental? haven't bought a car in years.

#15 ·
exactly. those are getting $7500 off the purchase price. but they dealership says that doesn't count off leases. another internet forum says "It does apply to leases and purchases. For leases they add the 7500 to the residual value which brings down the monthly cost. You got a scummy dealership over there

In general the 7500 incentive applies to leases and purchases for ALL cars."

bit of an update, I ended up getting in contact with a dealer a couple hours away, and he gave me such a good deal it's making me nervous. I have a quote sheet from him, it's just WAY aggressive with discounts.

Is there anything I should be asking? It feels like there's a catch or something my simple mind isn't registering. It's too far away for a "stop by and let's chat about it", can I take the quote as solid?

thanks

Do you have an "out the door price". If not, find out what dealer add-on's they'll try to screw you with. Examples - PPF, dubious dealer provided interior and exterior coatings, window tint, door edge guards, force you to use their financing, etc. Ask them what requirements they have in order to close the deal.

I've had HUD in two prior vehicles - never found it very useful. I do most of my driving in the day, and my polarized rx shades make it invisible anyway. You should see me when I walk into a fast food place and they have the menu/monitors mounted at 90 degrees (I'm the guy tilting my head to read it, lol).

What is an "active door reader" ?

A couple weeks ago, we grabbed a Sport 3 and managed just under $15k off ($1,000 Costco, $1,000 military, $7,500 battery, remainder dealer discount).

Did I miss out on something - what's the $3,000 Conquest deal ?

An additional discount if you are trading in another competing EV (Tesla, etc) for the Lyriq.

Don't feel bad - most of us who purchased a year or more ago were happy to get the car at MSRP - there were none of these incentives.

It was in post #8 in this thread. I'll post it again below.

Reliable Cadillac in Roseville BUT that was only after I had an offer in hand from Fremont Cadillac (which is a few hours further away.)

I was eligible for the $5k pre order and had a model with the $7500 off as a base to start. Then they took off some more as well.

Fremont was having issues locating my $5k discount, and Reliable called and asked why I walked. They matched the offer and didn't have issues with the $5k.

Their original "offer" was close to what you posted. I walked away for that money. If any of that makes sense, doing this from my phone.

It does. I actually drove one over at Reliable earlier today. What was the $5k discount for? I will have costco, conquest, and supplier code through work.

The pre-order discount for those of us who put money down two years ago. And we don't qualify for the tax rebate, so we found a model where the money was already taken off.

Walk away, then they'll call you in a day or two.

I'd recommend creating a burner email and putting a True Car request out to Reliable, Fremont, and Cadillac of South San Francisco. Fremont was pretty aggressive and gave me an upfront quote with my discounts. I had the pre-order, $7500 off, and Costco. And then what they took off to match Fremont.
