As of tomorrow I will be the proud owner of a 2002 Seville SLS. I would have had it on saturday, but they're putting on new tires and brake rotors at the dealer. I would have had it TODAY, but the dealer called and said the tires aren't on yet.

I cant wait!

Sounds beautiful, is this your first car?
Man, I don't know what I would have done with a car like that when I was 16. My first car was a 67 bug that I bought from my Dad. I beat the snot out of that poor car! I regret my mistreatment of it and would love to have it today!

Treat that car with respect and value it, it should serve you well and give lots of pleasure and enjoyment if you do.

Good luck with it! :)

It should provide excellent service. If you keep your foot out of it, you may be able to get 30 MPG out of the SLS!

Take care of her and she'll take care of you! Drive responsibly.

Did you pay for it yourself?
Do you know how much insurance will be for you to drive it?

Cheers,
T

WOW, that is one hell of a car for your first one. I just bought an '02 SLS and love it. I think I may have seen that car on the internet when I was looking for mine. BTW, the parking assist is standard I believe. Don't get carried away with that Northstar. She can get you into as much trouble as she can get you out of.

It's actually going to be my second car. For the past 11 months i've been driving a '93 Chevy Blazer. My parents bought it new in '93, and now it has 92k miles. In the past few months I have just been having tons of problems with it, 2 of the seatbelts dont work right, it handles like a boat, sometimes it just wouldn't start, and recently I found out something is draining the battery, but I have no idea what. Plus it gets 9mpg. But for a first car, it wasn't bad at all. I'll still keep it, fix it up, and use it to make money snowplowing with my dad in the winter.

My parents used to have an '01 SLS, that's the car I learned how to drive on with my permit. We ended up trading it in at the dealer last year for $11k, and put that towards buying our '03 Escalade. Later my parents regretted trading it in, the time came for me to get a new car, and now I have an '02 SLS :cool2:

Hey, Gary:

I have a '98 SLS, purchased several years ago. It has been a great car, and we just put another set of new tires on it. I don't think you'll get 30MPG; but, I (and my wife) do not drive with a gentle foot, and we have averaged over 20MPG for 98,000 miles so far.

There are a few frustrations with this machine; but, overall, it has been pretty reliable. I hope you enjoy your new ride.

Congrats on the new car. I get 30 MPG too when I'm on long trips on the highway at 75-80 MPH. Be smart with the car and take care of her. Post the pics when you get the chance.

hes 16 theres no way the car is his. hes underaged to enter any legal binding contract (including title ownership of a motor car) you must of reached the age of 18, so while the car may be "his" the title will say different. Sorry couldnt resist i couldnt own my 1st car till i was 18 and im 19 now so i couldnt resist

Ah...that's correct. The car's title will be in his parents' name since they probably paid for it. Also, insurance for 16 yr old in such a car is going to be through the roof, so it's prolly in their name, too.

Not sure about other states but in Ill. if there are 3 cars and 3 drivers in the house, each driver is the principal driver of one car. Gone are the days when dad can be the principal one two cars and mom on the other while junior is a part timer. The insurance companies have wised up. I suspect that is true in most all states as well. I am quite sure insurance for a 16 yr. old on an '02 SLS will not be cheap. If you want to dance, you have to pay the piper.

I live in Chicago, I pay $94.00 dollars a month on full coverage insurance for my caddy. My son just got his license 18yrs old. I tried to put him on my insurance and they wanted to jack it up to $450.00 a month. I can only wonder what you would have to pay for a 16 year old. Like Ranger said you wanna play you have to pay!

This is true, at least in Michigan too of vehicle titles. You must be 18 for the car to be legally yours. Which is great. Until my younger brother was 18 his car title was in my name. Whenever he'd say "my car" i'd correct him and say, "no, it's my car, check the papers." My dad didn't want the liability of him in case he did anything 'silly' and another party wanted to sue. if they sued me, all they'd get is a LOT of school loans. :D My dad would have helped me out in case anyhting did happen, but i would have rather had them get me than my dad.

When I turned 18 my dad rejoiced and had a scotch the day we transfered the title of the 89 to my name and insurance. Actually I think he was just happy i was no longer his legal responsibility :histeric:

but the older i get the more i think i am like my father.

Maybe he'll chime in and tell us if he paid for it and what his monthly/6mo insurance bills are gonna be. Maybe his parents will be smart and let him continue to drive the car depending on this grades.
