...There in lies your problem..."you ain't addn' nothin' to the display of an STS"!...The only was any display can be added is through the XM radio plug and it is quite complex and rarely works out...good fortune to workin' that out.

That is AWESOME! I can't wait to hear back! I was thinking of mounting it in the trunk... and then running the cables to the center console, as it looks too big to mount anywhere else nicelyI have the lockpick installed on mine and the center console video port works just fine while driving. I will order one now and let you know how it works.
I guess the real draw here is that it displays on the dash screen and operates via the same touch screen. The non-add-on look really ups the cool factor IMHO.Looks cool. But can't see spending $650 for essentially the same info dashhawk or a similar product can give you.
Ding ding ding... You are correct. It would be similar to using an MP3 player or other input device. The radio will only show/play the input from the AUX device when selected. Dashhawk might not look as nice, but at least you can mount it in an easily viewable area while driving... There is a reason they don't let you watch movies while driving... Looking down and to the right at a screen is not safe, especially if you are doing a fast and furious. Cool looking yes, but I just don't see how it would be practical.I don't think you can use AUX and the radio/CD at the same time. But then I've only used AUX twice.
I think that is a good 'quick fix'... however, if we figured out a way to connect a switch to change the input to the lcd only... then we could possibly have full functionality of the unit while displaying this as well. I think it would be worth it even if you can only use the audio device connected to the aux ports... but something about the voice nav still alerting you when you need to turn sounds pretty cool to me. Eventually you could build an algo-based switch as well... to switch to the gauges when the car is put into competition mode... or possibly switch anytime the car is 3/4 throttle and over... That's what i like about it.. the possiblities are nearly endless.
I think the first step for me will me to allow ssstealth to see if there are any issues (sorry ssstealth, but you're the guinne pig on this one)... then run it with the aux audio only. By then the cts-v guys might possibly have the fix to switch the lcd input... or if not i would be interested in looking into how to do it... from there it would be to find somebody to build the algo-based switch for the input... and so on and so on... lol.
Sorry for the outburst... i'm a bit of a 'dreamer'.. lol... but hey.. that's what paid for my car, so i guess there is some good in that.. LOL.
Sorry, i don't think i was very clear on what i meant... Lockpick = quick fix. " By then the cts-v guys might possibly have the fix to switch the lcd input" What i meant by this was to go around the need for a lockpick.. if you can change the input on the lcd screen it's self, none of the factory algo will effect it... you'd just be changing what the screen is displaying. I'm not sure if you're familiar with a KVM switch on a computer.. but that's how i see it. Everything just runs in the 'background', and the screen displays whatever you want.
This would be a ways down the road time wise, but it's removing the need for a lockpick for this application. If i'm not mistaken the lockpick was designed to allow the user to play dvd's while driving... but playing dvd's uses the factory processor to feed the info to the screen. Whereas changing the input will bypass all of the system except the actual lcd screen.
Hopefully that makes a little more sense.
Nice! But :thehand: for the $$$ and after reading your thread at magden-auto I say we encourage them to include more exclusivity to the V-series -- One GM product is horrible; Especially after I seen a $hitstang on the SEMA demo video..In driving I did notice some slight variation between oil and water temparature and now I have some numbers to match to the needle on the dash cluster. The gear calibration is proving to be tough. They ask you to do 2500 rpm in each gear. Needless to say 2500 in 6th gear can not be done in your local neighborhood or side street.
