All around town today the lines at gas stations are huge. People are going crazy for this $2.19 gas. Is this just a temp low price or why is everyone lining up for it. It seems to be the same price all over town. Driving into work I saw the lines and wondered if I had missing some major news this morning.

Lucky ba$tard. I just paid $3.39 per gallon in LA on my roadtrip this weekend. The most expensive tank I've ever filled up. Its getting ridiculous.

My wife got gas tonight, we will see if her Trail Blazer keeps running on it. It's all over town though. I checked a dozen places on my drive home and saw $2.19 to $2.29. Ames is known for being $0.20/gallon higher priced than Des Moines so I don't know whats going on.

Gas in the Twin Cities is 2.49 to 2.68. Hopefully we get to see some 2.19 prices.

I'm still paying right around $3 for 93 octane, and the plant is literally right across the freeway. All of this artificial inflation is somewhat warranted, Americans have just been paying too little for gas for a long time.

I'm interested to see how much this affects auto makers, seeming how large SUVs are getting very hard to sell.

It is still close to $3 a gallon here in Utah and we have two refineries in SLC. Twin cities was 30 cents a gallon higher last year than Utah so we are getting screwed.

I bet you won't say we have been paying too little for gas when you heating bill almost doubles this year and you pay more for everything else. Don't even compare us to other countries since they get tons of benefits (free health care, 30 days off per year, short work shifts, free child care, etc).

Exactly. Count on the public to become desensitized to the high prices just because they are better than they were a month ago.

One quote I read somewhere was that this person was glad that prices were high. That it was the only way people will act conservatively and responsibly with natural resources. Geesh!

I was glad I was able to avoid the prices above $3.00 a gallon. I filled up at the end of August and managed to go 33 days without filling up. Thank you girlfriend's Tercel!

The lowest I remember ever paying (after age 16) was $1.11. Gas prices held between $1.25 and $1.65 for something like 20 years. That's ridiculous.

Now all of a sudden we're getting a huge increase and it hurts. If there had been a 5% per year increase we probably wouldn't have ever complained.

I waited as long as I could and had to fill up at $2.99 last week. Prices are going down right now, I'm not sure where they will stop, but if I see $2.19 I'm filling everything up plus a couple of 6-gallon cans I have.
