I see FWD referencing Front Wheel Drive as well as Four Wheel Drive. So.... Should FWD mean Front Wheel Drive and use AWD for All Wheel Drive? :sbox:

FWD - Front Wheel Drive
RWD - Rear Wheel Drive
AWD - All Wheel Drive
4WD - Four Wheel Drive

I've never seen FWD meaning Four Wheel Drive, not saying it hasn't just that I've never seen it.

The first 4-wheel drive vehicles were made by FWD (FWD Auto Company) in Clintonville, WI in 1909:

We see a lot of FWD trucks in Wisconsin.

I knew I was not going crazy. I even see it in Dealer Ads. When I did a search for the 2013 SRX, I put AWD in the search, cars came back with FWD, so I skipped the car, then looking closer, it was a AWD...

Also, in the European union you might see something being referenced as Four Wheel Drive, instead of 4WD or AWD if it is all wheel.
