Hi all,
I'm new to forum and first time Escalade owner and wanted to do some maintenance on our 2017 Escalade ESV luxury with 52k miles. Found most of the torque specs for everything except for the rear diff fill plug and cover plate bolts. Found specs on suburban & Yukon XL but not the escalade. Are the specs the same? Fill plug 24ft/lb and cover plate bolts 29 ft/lb?

My apologies if this has been discussed, tried to look around but could not find any info. Also, would it hurt to use 75w-90 instead of 75w-85?

Thanks!

I don't remember where I was able to find the answer when I did mine. But my notes say 20 lb ft.. Torque for cover bolts. The first time I did it I did remove the cover and replaced the gasket. The next time I just used a fluid extractor. I used 75W-85 for front and rear full synthetic Amsoil. 2018 Escalade, I can't imagine it's different.

Looking online at the specs, it's saying 30 lb ft and 24 lb ft for drain. I guess it would be okay to do 20 lb ft. Was planning on doing what you did and just replace the gasket while I am at it.

Also, I called a couple dealers around town since no one had 75W-85 in stock (which they didn't either). But after talking to the dealers they were saying that for them it calls out 75W-90.

It's just weird the owner manual calls out 75W-85 but dealers are using 75W-90.

Wondering what I should do now...

Oh yeah that looks like it needed it badly. Didn't you find the transfer case fluid change super easy? As well as the front diff, except for removing the metal cover under there, but even that is not terrible. I do find that for some reason the transfer case fluid gets nasty quicker than the differentials. I just want to ask you something with no criticism just to make sure all is good. You did not use gear oil in the transfer case, correct? The transfer case takes the Dexron VI automatic transmission fluid or you can use the Amsoil signature series ATF.

The front side was definitely easy. Wish rear diff had fill and drain plug too... I must say that my rear looked pretty clean, just the front diff and transfer had aa lot of shavings.

I decided to go with Dextron VI like they called out. Only thing I used 75W-90 gear oil on was both differentials. Next step is spark plugs and then I think I'm good till the next oil change
