Front heat contol knobs

I have a 2003 EXT. Temp in MN is cold right now and most of the time lately when trying to adjust the temp up or down the heat control knobs don't work very well. The best way I can explain it is if the control temp is 70 and I turn the knob up to 75 the display will maybe will jump up to 71 and then down to 65? Both drives and passengers seem to acted the same. Once the inside of the cab warms up it seem to work better. Anyone experienced this? any fixes other then replacing the heater control unit?

I hate to break it to you but the control unit will have to be replaced since the knobs are acting up
I'm in Wisconsin and at -15F mine act up a little until warm. I do not know if they are mechanical or optical encoders but there could be a little frost in there. Dragging in snow on our boots and then drying the floor with the heater puts a lot of moisture everywhere. I have to park outside, love my Viper remote starter, and my CD changer skips until it is warmed up. Here in Wisconsin we have 2 seasons, Winter and the 4th of July also know as Shoveling and Swatting. You can get on on Amazon for $360. July is not too far off

I know what you mean on the weather
Today I got greeted with my driveway and the road like a skating rink due to the ice(NOT FUN AT ALL) I hate ice period(don't ask how I managed to get out)
Thanks for the replies. I figured as much. I see them on ebay for around $100. I guess if it bugs me enough I will replace it. Just had it out and apart to replace a few bulbs too..-12 today in Minneapolis! Brrrrrrr
Guys I think they are mechanical sensors on the knobs as mine did this yesterday due to the extreme cold

Weird as heck
