Open the hood and remove the big plastic piece across the radiator support. You might be able to reach it from there...

 

I also thought I would be able to get to the front emblem by taking the vanity cover off, but when I had my grille changed out on my '19 it looked like it would be very difficult if not impossible to get at the emblem just by removing the front vanity cover. I would say at minimum the top push pins that hold the fascia to the metal support would have to be removed, the front fascia carefully pulled forward as much as safely possible and then reach inside to undo the emblem clips (long thin arms would be an asset). But there is the hood latch mechanism to get around and the wind dam as well. So even with pulling the front fascia forward, it would be quite a task to try and get to.

Here is what mine looked like after the vanity cover had been removed and new grille installed which required the front fascia to be taken off.

Here are the clips that hold the emblem on. You have to push down on each one and then forward to pop the emblem forward.

 

here is a link that shows how you can push the clamps on the emblem to remove it ,not much, but you will get the idea ,,,just be careful not to brake the clips....

 

Well, how cool is that getting it off...didn't think it could be done like that! I like the lighted coloured one!

i installed the colored lighted emblem on my 16 XTS..Did not have to remove grill..Just the top front cover thats under the hood ..i did brake the clips..but didnt care because i had the lighted replacement..looks awesome!

 

There must be more room to do that in the '16, because I don't see how I could have reached it in my '19 with just the vanity cover removed...maybe I'm missing some special know how to get it done that way.
