I've had sterling service from my Brougham since the day I bought it in October '07. It's only needed a fuel pump and rear half exhaust since then. Got the rear brakes done during the winter and now the fronts need doing. The radiator also sprung a leak high up on the seam to the core under the filler cap area. No biggie, I can keep using her with a few pints top-up every other day. Also, the tires are now done, so it was time for some work.
She's in the shop at the place I bought her from. He's found me a killer deal on 4 new tires and a good deal on a radiator. It'll be a brand new aluminium cored job that's supposed to be better at doing the job. Ok, it won't look OE, but I'm using the car, not trying to keep it matching numbers perfect. The front brakes are looking less dire than I had believed they might be so all the costs are balancing out good.
Spoke with him on the phone this evening and he asked if the car gets lots of attention. I told him it gets more than any car I've ever owned. Given that I used to drive Street Rods (as daily drivers) I think that says a lot about a Cadillac's charisma. He reckons he could have sold the car several times today! He told them they had their chance back in 2007. People were totally enthusing about it apparently.....and the love my licence plate.:cool2:
Martin.
