i have what i'd consider a good idea for this forum:

often times we are either looking for or have to offer certain parts like exhausts, intakes, body material, etc that is just laying around...

unfortunately, our threads get shuffled around and hidden quickly before everyone (those who could potentially help or want to buy stuff) see them...

proposed idea (if we don't already have something like this):

start a cts only area that members can post material they have to offer or can post material they wish to acquire. (mostly this would be used parts).

the thread can stay at the top of the forum or in a reasonably secure location, like a sticky, and luckily won't be spammed up too much. this way, we can quickly see whats out there or who may need what...i think it could be a big help.

there might be a better way to do this, but what do you guys think? would something like this be cool or what?

A sub forum would work, but I think if we came up with a system for subjects like For Sale: or Wanted: or Free: then people could search the forums.

Once an item is sold the thread could be closed

Good idea 3x0. Why not ask Reed(CTSVETT), our moderator. A place in the FAQ could possibly work. A sticky seems like the best idea for us IMO. Marking stuff as sold may be difficult but those problems are Reed's specialty.

exactly...as long as it's updated frequently, which HONESTLY shouldn't be a problem as much as we're on here...i think it would be hella beneficial.

i have a busy night up until about 8, but i'll write him a message and try to figure out a good system thats still local to this forum and easy to check (the main point here is fast and easy).

to update it by ourselves the seller or buyer could always edit their original posts with a large bold "SOLD" or "NO LONGER REQUESTING" so everyone knows...

so, to resurrect this thread...

i have been talking with CTSVETT and he thinks it's a great idea, but he is concerned with the limited space ont he forums. unfortunately, he suggested we use the "cadillac classified" at the top of your browser...

now, i checked this out and it kinda sucks...you really can't search stuff very well and...um...i guess i just don't plain like the format of it. i'll keep thinkin here on an idea...but i have a forum i use for other reasons and since i'm the admin i would be able to start a forum with STRICTLY for sale/free/or needed sections. i guess we'll see how it goes...bad side is...you might need to register at yet another forum to use it...

what do you guys think? beneficial or just let it go and use this?

I like the idea of the specifics of goods for sale to us, so we the members can benefit from them. A good for instance are the exhausts from the upgrades done. Wheels too, etc. Its difficult because of the purchasing or selling of merchandise to keep it updated and deleted when gone. Maybe a Forum for Mods (by individual members) > Engine/Exhaust - Wheels - Exterior - Interior - Audio, these seem to be the bulk of upgrades. List two boxes, for sale and sold. Keep our Vendors seperate. Delete once seller confirms its sale. I'm sure maintanence is the big headache which I'm sure Sal doesn't need. It definitley needs to be designed for simplicity and ease for posting pic's of the merchandise which dummies as myself have yet to master. I do like the added benefit. Hopefully as more read, they will give some needed imput. ( Please everybody your 2 cents) This could really benefit us all.
