Fogs to turn on with low beams

looking to add a relay to the power circuit on the low beams so the fogs and lows always come on as a pair. I don't have any wiring diagrams and was wondering if anyone has done this before??

I believe that the fog light and low beam light relays are in the fuse box under the hood.

You should be able to test which terminal is what with a multimeter. I haven't yet gone through what terminal is what on the cts. But it's pretty straight forward if you know what you are doing.

You might want to rethink that idea. I don't know about the law up there, but there are several states down here that the highway patrol use an obscure law about the illegality of running 2 sets of lights just so they have an excuse to pull over luxury vehicles. I know from personal experience Oklahoma and Arkansas enforce it routinely. (especially when I'm in my SL500 with the top down :hmm: )
Well there might be a problem with having your fog lights on with your low beams when you short the two together via the fuse box.

I thought in most state you are allowed to have the fog and low beams on at the same time. Which that is way it's set up with all vehicles. But as soon as the high beams are turned on, the fog lights are turned off and the low beams are kept on.

So if you were to wire the fogs into the low beam. You might as well hook it up through an aftermarket relay to where the high beams are turned on, the fog lights will turn off as well.

Or don't do any modifying at all. And just turn on your fog lights every time you want them on.

I got both relays in my hand and they have diagrams on them (super easy). Just going to run the powering side of the relays in parellel with each other and the switching terminals will stay the same. As for the cops **** EM if they want to pull me over for something as stupid as that ill laugh in there face.
One other factor is driving at night in the fog. You don't want the lows or highs to be on at all because that will hinder your vision.
well i have 6K's in my lows/fogs and it looks sick at night. It bugs me having to turn then on because i never have them off. Makes sense doesn't it??? Just finished the mod (really easy) and love it!! p.s. fog in Vancouver happens maybe once a year not worried about it.
hey I live in vic and got the same thing going!
I got 6k in fogs and lows/highs also.
I ride around with my fogs on all the time too, just looks awesome.
But, no point in making something for it. It's second nature to me now, even when I have to just move my car a couple of feet I still turn the fog lights on since its second nature now.
I always lower the tilt wheel when I start driving. While my hand is on the left stalk, I got into the habit of turning on the fogs.
Care to explain a little more what you did??? and do they still turn off when you hit your high beams?? this is something I've been wanting to do for a long time....any pics would be greatly appreciated...I too have my fogs on all the time as well.
I would love to, yes they will turn off when you use the high beams(they do whatever the lows do). It's nice because it doesn't turn on the green fog light indicator on your dash (so you don't have a cluttered instrument cluster). when you turn the fog switch on the green indicator light turns on but doesn't turn the fogs on or off(disabled). I will do i detailed right up tomorrow or the next day with pictures.

Correction, the low beams do NOT turn off when high beams are turned on. So if you are going to use the high beams and have the fog light relay tied into the low beams. Then you will have three sets of lights on fog, low and high.

However, if you buy an aftermarket relay like I suggested. You can wire it up so that when the high beams turn on. The fog lights will turn off as well.

This could help you from being pulled over for having three sets of lights on, and also any electrical problems that may arise with three sets of lights on for too long. I doubt the later, but you never know.

Awesome, one more question can you only turn the fogs on? Or will this subsequently turn the low beams on? And I never really drive around with my high beams on anyways, but using flash to pass always flicked the fogs on and off which of course is bad for HID's....so the fogs staying on with the high beams is a big plus.....anxiously awaiting pics or at least a nudge in the right direction. Thanks again.
oh yes your right kingoftypos the fogs won't turn off with the high beams on. Easy fix i will just add a reverse switcing relay. Ya you dont want to overload the alternator. Nikon You wont be able to just have your fogs on, the lows and fogs will always come on as a pair(but you can flash the high beams and the fogs/low will turn off with the third relay added). Currently drawing schemadics and making a right up. I will make the right up so the extra relay for flashing will be optional(but recommended).
This post got me thinking...

I always have my fogs on and when I leave the brighter city area I will drive with my high beams on for safety and was always a little annoyed that I couldn't keep my fogs on with my high beams.

So, Saturday after work I wired up two relays so that my fog lights will stay on with the high beams.
The fogs work like normal with the switch and I can turn them on and off independently from the low beams/parking lights but they will automatically come on with the high beams and I love it!
Super bright...

I can write up the info if anyone is interested, it only took about 1.5 hours...
I'll take any info available....this is more along the lines of what I want.
First You will need to go to a electrical supply store and buy 14 gauge wire(no smaller), 1/8" female(8) and male(6) pins and shrink wrap. Find the low beam relay and the fog relay by looking under the fuse box lid. The fuse box is located on the left side of the engine bay. Then follow my wiring diagram. Make sure to solder all connections. Use the shrink wrap to cover exposed wire so they don't touch each other.
