Huh? I know the sound would be quite different, but there is NO way you could ever get that much added HP just from new exhaust bits. You should rethink that comment. Unless you ment 3-5 HP? That might be plausible.
I couldnt even imagine getting 3-5 hp. Alot of the new cars suffer from the loss of back pressure. I am sure it is raspy being that it is a V6, even the Northstar with mufflers does not sound good.
it said 7 -10 % horsepower so that is about that much.
Did you look into and or hear the CORSA mufflers. I have heard that they sound richer and not as loud as the Flowmaster. I am still debating wheather to get the CORSA mufflers or not. I don't want an extra loud sound and until I can hear the CORSA system live, I will not go there. Performance mufflers increase horsepower approx. 5 to 15 horsepower.
Doesn't the CORSA cost more than the Flowmaster??
I put Flowmasters on the STS for about 24 hours, then went back to stock.

Too loud, with lots of booming inside the cabin at parking lot speeds. Suprisingly, they weren't raspy at all. I probably would have been happier if they were, but there was just too much bassy resonance.
why would you change your mufflers if you dont want noise? common sense,
No, common sense would be to read what I actually typed.

I was not happy with the low frequency resonance that this particular muffler introduced into my cabin area.
The rasp is more foreign car sounding. The deep tone is more American car. I just do not get the point of it, but I dont have to. Its your car. Guy at my Caddy store just put TPS exhaust on his XLR. See how it sounds tomorrrow afternoon.

Why on earth would you take a super quiet vehicle and increase the sound level? The best sound that I am looking for is no sound.

I think someone gave you some bad information on getting 35 to 50 hp. for the small amount of exhaust system change that you made. I would guess that the small amount of better breathing that the m ufflers and tips gave you is less than 10hp.

It cost you $600 for two flowmaster musfflers and some custom tips? That by far has to be the single WORST rip off I've ever seen. It only cost about $300 for a complete Flowmaster exhaust system on my old '66 Mustang, and that system was by far more complicated to install, than two muffler and some tips. You've been had man. Mufflers alone are only good for maybe 3-5hp at most on the N* (probably less on the V6). You've got to do the rest of the exhaust in orde rto make any significant increase in power. As for the cost of Corsa compared to Flowmaster.....it cost me about $1050 for my system direct from Corsa. The diference between Flowmaster and Corsa is that Corsa takes the time and effort to dyno every setup until they can get the most power, and least drone from it. Flowmaster on the other hand, happens to be one of the most restrictive mufflers on the market. You've made a poor choice in exhaust systems, and an even poorer choice in where to get it from. Who ever sold it to you, and installed it has ripped you off for an ass load of money. But....that was your choice. Good luck with the drone, and 4 more hp.

yea im going to go for corsa on my DTS, it sounds awsome. I really dont like exhaust on V6's, they just have a buzzy sound...the only V6 that soudns good with exhaust is a Grand National in my opinion. And you should reall do the cat back if your looking for HP
Anybody have the sound clip of a corsa? I'm really thinking about that setup myself. I come from a lifted truck background and I'm used to hearing a little american thunder with the v8's. I love this caddy but man is it quiet....

Its a Corsa setup on a 300HP DTS but it will sound rpetty much the same, if nto a little deeper on your STS v8.

Do you got any soundclips or have you forgot to make some?!
If your in Los Angeles your welcome to hear my Corsa pipes. Im in love all over again. It may be only 15hp but god damn its so aggresive it feels like 50hp. Very quite in idle but beware when you open it up it roars like a lion. Sounds perfect! If someone tells me how to post a sound clip I'll be glad to post it. or email me [email protected]
