Dammit Dammit Dammit!!!!

So I'm driving home from work tonight on the highway, cruising along in 6th and everything's cool. Oh, my exit is coming up, time to switch lanes. I change lanes and push in the clutch to downshift... *pop* Pedal does NOTHING! Uh-oh. So this isn't good... Broke down at the busiest intersection around. Rte 495 & Rte 93 cloverleaf. Yay!

The rod going from the clutch pedal to the clutch master broke.

Turns out that the master was just slightly off axis when mounted and the rod was at a funky angle. So it finally failed due to fatigue. I have ordered the parts and it'll be fixed tonight. Just thought I'd share with you guys. :)

Should I have left it stock???? HELL NO!!!! :D

*cuz it's a lot of fun to break parts*

Me calling the parts guy:

Me: Hello, I need a clutch master and slave assembly for a 96 Fleetwood.

Parts Guy: OK. So that's a.... WHAT?!?!?!

Me: Just kidding. It's for a 97 Z28. *wink*

:D

That's funny stuff about you calling for the parts.
Hope it doesn't hold you up too long. That is the price to pay for switching it to stick but im sure you don't care.

Stupid question:

What's going to keep it from breaking again? Will you be able to fit the master correctly?

Well, not to point fingers, but my buddy who installed the master missed the bolt hole with the bolt so it was misaligned. I'll reinstall it correctly, with the bolt actually going through the bolt hole, and the geometry will be correct.

Hey, shit happens, ya know? :)

All Better! She's back on the road. :)

Oh, and the clutch actually feels a bit better now then it ever did... I guess the correct geometry really makes a difference! :D
