finding an alternative to timeserts

my Visa is currently maxed out and now i'm finding how badly i need to get a Timesert kit. i live in Canada, and i'm guessing it's gonna cost me around $500 - $600 Canadian to buy this kit. now, i'll find a way to get it if i have to, but i was just wondering if there are any alternatives. i know that helicoils don't work.

my dad pointed me towards this site, as his company has an account with them. i get the feeling their threaded inserts only work with steel wall or sheet, but take a look anyway.

when you get there, go to the online "animation library", then click the threaded inserts link. check out the animations of their inserts in action. just wondering what you guys think.
