No, a few excitable highway on-ramps don't count as opening it up. This was about 6 + miles of tight corners and undulating straightaways on roads not too far from work. Popped my 2.0T into sports mode and man what crazy, stupid fun!

The brakes, ohhhh the brakes. And the flawless PAL downshifts had me schoolgirl-giggly. And it stuck to the road like white on rice. It was all like: Is this all you got? I could not unsettle this thing. So much fun I ended hitting that same stretch of road three times before heading back to work. Ahh, lunch time drives...

If you have the ATS and you haven't opened it up on some twisties yet, you don't really know what you have yet: A bottomless reserve of stupid, satisfying grins.

Awesome man! glad to see these cars are panning out to be as much fun as I'm anticipating! :)

I have the PERFECT stretch of road planned out once I get it and am through the break in period.. it winds through an area full of ski resorts :D

I love the PAL. I didn't get paddle shifters due to budget, but I don't miss them once PAL wakes up. I'm not the best driver in the world by far, but most other cars I've owned I can get the tires to squeal quite a bit on turns after a while...not the ATS...not yet at least. It seems totally unflapped by my efforts.

Awesome. Which suspension and wheel option do you have.

I'm jealous. My sport mode doesn't work, never has in the 3 months I've owned my car, and no one can figure out why. Cadillac failed me. Bert

If it's any consolation, unless you're pushing it I haven't observed a gargantuan difference between sport and touring. But when you really start pushing it, yeah. Love it. Hope they figure out what's going on with yours soon.

Jamboarder, that is wonderful! I'm happy to see your ATS is making you "giddy," and thank you so much for your feedback!

I took delivery of my ATS on Monday and have only road tripped it so far. I have had a chance to get the PAL to kick in but the feature sort of has me scrathing my head.

I have always been taught that your shifts and braking should be completed before turn in. Turns should be all steering and throttle manipulation. Since the PAL kicks down the gear only when is has turning initiated it seems it sets you up for a bad time. I assume it works because it still uses ESC and traction control as a safety buffer. Will it still work with both systems off?

I guess I would just feel more comfortable running the track and twisties in manual mode with the paddles.

For me the PAL downshift seemed to be kicking in near the end of braking at the beginning of the turn in. The downshift is rev-matched so I didn't experience a sharp, unexpected tightening up that would unsettle the (already well-balanced) chassis as I entered each turn. Just a much greater range of available torque when I got on the throttle to drive through and exit the turn.
