Yep...took the plunge...even after saying to myself Id probably be better off with the Cadillac....but I found a car that I thought was a decent deal...drove to west palm beach to test it out...and made the deal....all within 5 minutes..

Sooooo what did I get...

Clue#1---GM

Clue#2---year 1990

Clue#3---LT1 Engine

Clue#4---FBody

yah, you probably guessed it....1990 Trans Am.....BUT....it has a 1994 Z28 LT1 with 60,000 on it and a built up 700R4 for the tranny.....and how much did I pay???..... $2600.......which I thought was a fantastic deal considering the condition it is in.....but yeah...Im definently going to repaint it even though it was done 5 yrs ago...the paint had the wrong primer and little bubbles are everywhere once you look at it from a couple feet away...

Ill have pics this weekend....doing brakes now...

Runs freakin awsome....tap the gas and the thing hauls ass....only thing is the speedo doesnt work...I have to figure out how to make it get the proper signal from the trans

SOO...no miata...needed power after all.....I wanted a back to basics type car without much luxury in it...but it had to be something special....I think this is it...brings back memories from our 84' we had with a 305ci back in the days.....

just be careful with that thing ....your gonna give your parents a damned heart attack .....
Youre 17?!?

LT1 engine?!?

Wow. My parents would have taken my keys from me and made me drive a Mini.

Ah well, how much will the insurance be?

Good luck, i agree with Stoney, be careful. You may think youre invincible when you arent.
ah! so how does the F-Body LT1 (275hp) compare with the 4.9 Liter? I had the 260hp B-Body LT1 in my Roadmaster. I noticed how much less top end power the 4.9 has. Highway passing was a LOT easier in the LT1. But around town the cars have similar performance. I Imagine that '90 Trans am, with 275hp has to fly!

What about being 17 with a Northstar under your right foot? Needless to say I became well acquainted with the 110mph limiter.

Good luck MSilva, I think I've got my mind set on a Camaro/Trans Am for my next car.

lol dont worry about me....im not the daring driver type....id rather get to where im going alive...

but yes....it does haul....i didnt take it on the highway yet...but my dad says at 85mph on the turnpike some subaru tried him and he said he was at around 110 in no time....i believe it...the thing seems to have a never ending basket of torque...

still need to get battery for digi camera but im definently gonna post pics

Nice ride MSilva. Real clean looking.
looks good. why dont you keep the Cadillac as a Sunday cruiser? keep a nice luxo cruiser and then drive the Trans Am daily?

ps- i need to stop that mail truck with your gay pride stickers...:D;)

Hey mini's are pretty fast you know, especially the mini cooper S, because it's supercharged.

Thats not from wrong primer. It's from not cleaning the surface before painting it. I've done that before. Had to wet sand it all down, clean it, and repaint it.

Nice ride though. Be careful with it. Don't drift too many corners. lol

Great cars
Awsome car!! Always loved those! Had a chance in 1995 to buy a 1987 GTA in the same color for 10K and it only had 70,000 kms on it! I regret it now but it would likely have been stolen from my old location where I lived. I remember the steering being VERY quick ratio and the Recarro seats were so comfortable they cradled you. Moved like stink too with all those wonderful musclecar sounds....
Congrats!

Good looking specimen!
Wish I could keep the caddy....but money talks and I need to sell it definetly....BUTTT....the G/f's mom is thinkin of buying it for her....SOOO....the car technically would still be in my possession..and Id get the money lol

Yah Sandy, this car is almost as close as can be to a GTA without being one...I love the GTA black wheels...need to restore them a lil bit and the weather stripping definetly needs replacing...

Tommrow im gonna take some pics with my friends 81' Camaro...should be nice...ill post them after.....he is soon to be puttin a LT1 in that too
