There won't be any difference except hype. Take a look at a WIX pleated paper filter. Flows more air (if demand requires it), holds smaller dust particles and is a lot less expensive. If you got a sticker with the K&N it's good for 2.4 hp at idle (driver's side quarter window only).
The only time a modern pleated paper filter may offer any sort of flow restriction is way up at full throttle redline engine speeds. Tooling down the highway at 70 the throttle plate is only open 6% to 9% - airflow into the engine is so low it isn't funny. The running engine is creating high vacuum (16 - 22 inches) and atmospheric pressure (14.7 psi, nominal) is trying to push air past the mostly closed throttle plate into the engine. Only a small volume of air hisssses past the plate at cruise speeds.
