Hey guys,

I bought a grill on ebay that was advertised as an OEM V Grill and from the pictures it looked really legit to me. I've been wanting one for years and so I finally decided to just buy it. I got it today and when I opened the package, something seemed off, so I went looking for a GM part number on the grill somewhere to confirm it was OEM, but there wasn't one. Do all OEM V-grills have a GM part number stamped somewhere? Thanks for the help... :/

There should be a GM PN somewhere on the underside of the black plastic mount. It is not in a painfully obvious area if my memory serves me. Post a pic of the mesh. I can usually spot a fake a mile away.

Also post a link to where you bought it from. That would be helpful to determine if it's real.

Thanks for your quick response, appreciate it. I e-mailed the seller about it and he insists it's real. Here are some pictures and a link to the item:

That emblem seems just a bit too big to be stock man...but I could be wrong.

i do remember the OEM ones having the black plastic base and many of the aftermarket ones not having that black plastic but fully chromed plastic

i'd lean towards OEM

if it fits correctly around the edges then it's OEM
almost all the aftermarket ones don't have the exact fitment correct and the sides or the corners or the middle won't be lined up perfectly to the bumper and the hood

though there should be something stamped into it that can identify it as OEM

This is fake. Your emblem is slightly too big and the gauge of your mesh is too small. Plus OEM mesh doesn't discolor. Yours looks a little discolored. You shouldn't have paid more than $50-75 for that grille.

Here's mine for comparison:

I'm leaning more towards the fake/after market/knockoff part.
The part number would be stamped on the upper part housing the mesh.
It will be imprinted into the plastic.

The mesh would be chrome plated and have clips and screws holding the housing and mesh together.

Yes on all but the chrome plated. Fakes are chrome plated. OEM is high grade thick stainless.

Is it the stainless now? I'm used to working on the older ones. Haven't had a chance to take a new one apart yet.
Thanks for the update Longsnapper.
