I don't work for these folks, nor am I affiliated with them in any way, but I thought some of you out there might like to know that the factory service manual set for the Cadillac CTS (which includes CTS-V, too) is now available from Helm, Inc.

http://www.helminc.com/helm/homepage.asp?r=

They're not cheap - $150.00 - by any stretch of the imagination, but if you're like me and like to have the factory service manuals around for your own use around the shop they are invaluable.

The proper order number for the set is GMP09D

In my experience Helm is a great company to deal with, and an even better resource if you like to get all the service info you can on your own vehicles.

Just FYI...

Dallara, thanks for the heads up on the 2009 CTS service manuals. They were still "not available," two days ago. Now as you have indicated they are.

I agree that the manuals are certainly worthwhile despite their high cost. I have ordered many such service manuals from Helm and have always received what I expected. However, I might mention that although I clicked the "notify me when the manuals are available" button several times, I have never received any notification that the manuals were available. Constant checking or info from people like you seem to be the only way to know.

No problem, Ted. Glad to get the info out there.

However, odd that you mention the notification issue. I signed up for the "notify me when manuals are available" and I received an e-mail notice day before yesterday telling me the manuals were ready for sale and shipment. Their e-mail notification was how I knew to order mine and prompted me to post the info here.

Weird that it didn't work for you. Spam filter on your e-mail, perhaps?

Anyway, my set are on the way. I'll be happy to report back here about them if there is any interest.

Thanks!

Dallara, glad to hear that the availability notification worked for you. I have tried it four times now and have never received any notification. As far as Spam filters go, the first three times I tried it, I was using NetZero. I am now on RoadRunner and still got no notification. I don't know if RR has a Spam filter, but if so I did not ask for any filtering that I know of.

Well, I use RoadRunner and Gmail (for the most part), so that can't be it.

Hmmm, like I said, weird. I have always gotten notifications from Helm, no problem.

Another one of those "Mysteries of the Universe", eh? :spin:

Thanks!

The manuals are great and very comprehensive. For all the info that you get including all the schematics, the price is not a whole lot as far as I was concerned... $135 usually doesn't buy you that much these days. :)

I decided to wait until I returned from my trip to Orlando to order the manuals so that they would not arrive while I was gone. I then promptly forgot about it. I have now ordered them and expect delivery in about five or six days. I had a set of 2004 CTS manuals and found them to be very helpful when looking for understanding of how some things worked (especially the TPMs). I also had a 2005 CTS-V which was essentially the same as the 2004, so I didn't order a new set for it. The 2009 CTS-V is significantly different from the 2004-2007 series.

This is a short update on the status of the CTS service manuals from Helm. At the time I placed my order the manuals were indicated as being in stock. According to Helm, between the time I placed my order and processing of the order the manuals became "out of stock." This of course did not stop Helm from charging my credit card and then doing nothing. After 10 days of the order status showing nothing but "In the shipping dept" I called and was informed that the manuals were no longer in stock again. I told them to refund my $170 (books plus shipping plus handling) which I was told would happen immediately and should show up on my credit card statement in 72 hours. We will see. Currently, their web site shows the manuals being "out of stock."

This is the first time that I have been burned this way by Helm. I hope it is the last. I signed up again for the e-mail notification on the availablility of the manuals. It didn't work before so I really don't expect it to work this time either. We will see.

Wow. I am sorry to hear all that. Certainly not the way I would expect them to act. Mine shipped right on time after ordering, and arrived in just a couple of days... 4 large, heavy, detailed volumes.

Guess they can only produce so many per printing run before they have to make a run for another vehicle, then they can get back around to another batch. Once the '09 manuals became available I imagine dealers got most of the first printing.

Hope you get a set soon.

Same here - ordered and received. Very comprehensive set, (more expensive than at Lindsay's however).

Just another short note on Helm. About six hours after I called to inquire about the lack of response to my order, Helm called me to inform me that the requested manuals were out of stock. Do you think I would have heard from them if I has not called earlier in the day and cancelled my order? I doubt it. They were hoping I would reinstate the order so they could keep my money. Until this transaction everything had been fine with this company. Now, nothing is fine.

I got the Helm manuals for the 2009 CTS/CTS-V about three years ago. I checked the Helm web site every day and ordered them immediately after seeing that they were is stock. Although I have checked the box to receive notification when the 2013 CTS-V manuals are available, I don't expect much. I will continue to check their web site.

Well, the Helm web site did change. The 2013 CTS-V manuals went from "Not Available" to "In stock" and, as groovyone says, the price has increased to $200. I ordered and the order status was "In Process" just like before. I checked again today and the order status said "In Shipping" which is different from before. We shall see.

I checked the box to receive e-mail notification when the 2013 CTS manuals were available and never received anything. I kept checking the Helm web site and finally saw that the manuals were available for $200, so I ordered them (total cost $222.60). Somethings never change (not receiving e-mail notification). As I indicated in my previous post the web site indicated my order was "In Shipping", and I received an e-mail today indicating that the order had been shipped. The web site now indicates that the order has been shipped. I will see if they sent the right thing and let you know.
