I imagine that this is impossible/impractical, but I am motivated to ask for the following reason: the F55 struts are $60 cheaper MSRP than the F45 ones. Is there any practical (meaning: not involving major swapouts of other components) way to use these in my 2000 STS? That is, apart from trading it in on a 2003? :bouncy:

The F55 MR system uses an entirely different chassis control program in the PCM/stability computers. I doubt that the parts will interchange, and if they did, you might create a dangerous chassis control problem. Be careful....

I have no intention of being the first to experiment on this. I just wish that the struts were cheaper than $600+ each from gmpartsdirect.com (cheapest I've seen). With prices that high, it would be nice if there was a shop that could rebuild them.

Instead of doing this project which is fraught with huge unknowns, you might want to consider trading in for a late 2002 or 2003 STS.
