After successfully replacing the starter, the engine now revs up at extremely high rpms. Initially, the idle was low and rough. Assuming it was lack of fuel in the lines, I
gave it some gas, to which the engine decided to let loose and rev really high, essentially flooring it on its own.
We took the manifold back off to check connections and gaskets, all while cleaning with starter fluid and
applying "the right stuff" to ensure a good seal on all eight gaskets and as well as the connection from manifold to plenum. The plenum itself appeared to be in good shape.
After ensuring good seals, the engine is still revving at extremely high rpms. Could this be the throttle body positioning sensor?
This is for a 2001 cadillac deville DTS.
